Are you an experienced accountant looking to take broad responsibility in an organization that makes a difference to many people? The Church of Sweden in Södertälje is now seeking an Accountant for a fixed-term position of approximately 12–18 months. This role combines ongoing accounting with qualified economic work in an operation with multiple units and a clear social mission.

Job Description

In the role of Accountant, you work broadly within finance and are responsible for several parallel operations and units. You are part of a finance group of four people who provide internal support and deliver financial services to other organizations.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Ongoing accounting
• Budgeting and forecasting
• Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual accounts
• Preparation of annual reports
• Economic follow-up, analysis, and reporting
• Acting as an economic advisor to managers and operational leaders
• Handling multiple parallel assignments

A smaller part of the role also involves payroll administration in close collaboration with HR, such as:

• Supporting managers with payroll-related questions
• Ensuring correct and complete payroll data
• Contact with external payroll providers

About You

We are looking for someone who has:

• Relevant post-secondary education in economics or equivalent experience
• Several years of experience in qualified financial work
• Good familiarity with budgeting, forecasting, accounting, and annual reporting
• Experience working independently with multiple profit centers or clients
• Good proficiency in financial systems as well as Excel and MS Office 365
• Very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written
• Experience from the Church of Sweden or politically governed organizations, such as municipalities, regions, or other public sector entities, is highly meritorious.

As a person, you are structured, analytical, and solution-oriented. You thrive in a role with many contact points and are communicative and pedagogical in dialogue with managers and colleagues without a financial background. Personal suitability is of great importance.
