Job Responsibilities
In addition to conducting research, during your time as an Associate Professor, you will develop your pedagogical skills, your ability to collaborate and communicate externally, as well as your proficiency in the Swedish language. Throughout your employment, you will be an active member of your department at the Faculty of Medicine and participate in its various activities.
We hope that one of your first tasks will be to lead an innovative research project funded by the Swedish Research Council.
Qualifications for Appointment as Associate Professor
You must have earned a doctorate or possess equivalent scientific competence in experimental cancer immunotherapy or a closely related field. Priority will be given to applicants who have earned their doctorate within the last seven years, calculated from the application deadline. If you have approved documentation in Sweden proving that there are special reasons, such as parental leave, military service, or illness after graduation, that prevented you from working as a researcher, the degree may have been earned earlier. In such cases, you must attach the documentation to your application.

- Has relevant experience from doctoral education and/or postdoctoral research in experimental cancer immunotherapy, or a related field, at a university or institute outside Sweden. Relevant extraordinary merits from industry or the public sector may also be considered.
- Has not received a salary or grant/funding from Sweden since December 31, 2022.
- Has documented good teaching ability and pedagogical skills.
- Has good communication skills and very good knowledge of English, both spoken and written.
- Shows motivation and the ability to learn Swedish.
- Can define an innovative research focus and develop a research plan in immuno-oncology or immune cell modification. The plan must:
- Present a clear, innovative, and feasible project in immuno-oncology or immune cell modification that goes beyond postdoctoral work.
- Show how the proposed research complements and strengthens ongoing activities in immuno-oncology at Lund University.
- Describe relevant and realistic collaborations with research groups at Lund University.
- Explain how the project will benefit from and collaborate with the Lund Stem Cell Center and the LU ATMP Center, including relevant infrastructures and strategic initiatives. The research plan will be given great weight in the assessment of the application and should serve as a basis for applying for external research funding in national and international competition. The research plan should be 1,000–1,500 words.
- Has documented good leadership qualities, for example through trust assignments, leadership training, and assessed leadership ability.
- Has good collaboration skills, initiative, and the ability to work independently.
- Contributes positively to the work environment.
