Do you want to shape public sector accounting – in Sweden and internationally?
We are looking for someone with experience in working with complex accounting issues who wants to play a central role in developing good accounting practices within the Swedish state. With us, you will work at the intersection of rule development, international cooperation, and knowledge dissemination – with the opportunity to influence how public sector accounting evolves both nationally and globally.
Your role and responsibilities
As a qualified investigator, you will contribute to the agency's normative work within public sector accounting. You will help develop, interpret, and manage the regulatory framework for public sector accounting to ensure a consistent and purposeful application throughout the government administration.
Your work will involve:
- driving and participating in rule development within public sector accounting (primarily through the development of regulations and general guidelines for the Ordinance (2000:605) on Annual Reports and Budget Underpinnings)
- providing advisory services to government agencies
- planning and conducting training and competence development initiatives
- developing support and guidance, including on the Forum for Economic Management
- participating in and actively contributing to international contexts (e.g., within the EU and OECD)
- monitoring the international standard-setting area for the public sector (primarily IPSAS) and relating it to our national rules for the public sector.
You will work independently but in close collaboration with colleagues, other agencies, and the Government Offices. The role offers great variety and the opportunity to delve into complex accounting issues of high relevance, particularly in relation to international developments.
You will be part of the Department for Efficient Administration, a large analysis department within the agency. An important task is to conduct investigations on behalf of the government. Your role includes contributing accounting expertise to this work when needed.
Your background and competence
We are looking for someone who has:
- an academic degree in economics with a focus on accounting or equivalent
- several years of experience in qualified accounting work
- very good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing.
It is an asset if you have:
- experience of working in an international context
- experience of public sector accounting
- experience of conducting training sessions or presentations.
Your personal attributes
The role demands high analytical skills and sound judgment. You are structured, self-motivated, and have the ability to drive issues forward even in complex environments. You are curious and keep yourself updated in your field, while also being good at collaborating and building trusting relationships – both nationally and internationally. We place great importance on your personal attributes.
About the employment
The position is a permanent full-time role starting with a six-month probationary period. Start date according to agreement.
