Description
We at Gårdstensskolan Adapted Primary School are currently seeking a teacher for our after-school care program (fritidshem). This is a permanent, full-time position.
Our adapted primary school is part of Gårdstensskolan's grades 4-9 school and was renovated a few months ago. We have 21 students in the adapted primary school across three different classes: one class focusing on subjects for grades 4-6, one for grades 6-9, and one covering subject areas for grades 4-9.
Some students require even smaller group settings based on their needs and abilities. This means that as an after-school teacher, you will work together with other colleagues to create opportunities to offer activities that meet the students' needs and abilities every day. Clarity in terms of structure, communication, and body language is essential. We have both high-functioning students with verbal language skills and students who require more support and assistance with AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication).
At Gårdstensskolan Adapted Primary School, you will become one of our 12 staff members, and together we create a sense of "we" where the student is at the center. You will also collaborate with colleagues from the primary school, both at the middle and upper secondary levels. We place a strong focus on language and communication, where AAC is a significant part of the teaching and education for our students. Working with clear pedagogy and creating good learning environments for the students is a key area of work at the school.
Responsibilities
At Gårdstensskolan, we have an after-school care program with approximately 8 students. As an after-school teacher, you will have an overarching role for both after-school groups regarding FRIPPAR (a Swedish framework for after-school activities), planning, and a strengthened assignment to follow up on the set goals for both groups. You will work closely with the after-school coordinators for the groups and will have student assistants to help carry out activities with the students. The team consists of one after-school teacher and 4-5 student assistants working together to create a good and enriching environment for the students during their time in after-school care.
Gårdstensskolan Adapted Primary School works with clear operational goals with focus areas such as assessment, structure, communication, and meaningful leisure time. In addition to these focus areas, we also place great importance on working with community, aiming for students to develop their social competence, sense of responsibility, and consideration for others and our environment. We want to create a meaningful and active day for the students, characterized by a consistent thread, positive encounters, and knowledge development. We believe that good relationships with students and parents are important for learning.
Qualifications
We are looking for a certified after-school teacher. We prefer candidates with experience working in an adapted primary school. You should be familiar with the regulatory documents governing the after-school program's mission and have knowledge of how systematic quality work is conducted to ensure the development of the after-school program and the students. You must have a good ability to coordinate staff and lead and coach other colleagues in daily work. Experience working with FRIPPAR in V-class (vocational class) is considered an asset.
You work in a structured and conscious manner to create a learning environment inside and outside the school that challenges, creates security, and fosters learning based on our students' abilities. You have the ability to observe and adapt activities according to the group's and individual students' needs. Your leadership is natural, and you easily build good relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. We place high value on everyone being treated respectfully and our activities being characterized by curiosity about each other's differences. You take responsibility for your and the shared tasks, with the best interests of the activity and the students in focus. You show respect and consideration for those you meet in your professional role. You start from the principle of equal value for all and create a good atmosphere in interactions. You contribute new ideas and perspectives in work-related issues and in situations that need to be resolved.
We look forward to receiving your application!
The position is subject to the condition that it is not filled by internal candidates.
