Description
Ester Mosesson's High School is Gothenburg's largest high school for the hospitality industry, a school where the future hotel and restaurant professionals are shaped. Our students secure careers after graduation as hotel staff, event personnel, activity leaders, chefs, restaurant managers, bakers, waiters, and pastry chefs. Thanks to high-quality education, practical learning, and close collaboration with the industry, many of our students go directly into the workforce where they are highly sought after. Responsibilities
We are looking for a Work-Based Learning (WBL) Coordinator for Ester Mosesson's High School. In this role, you are the crucial link between the school and the business community. Your mission is to ensure that students' work-based learning (WBL) maintains the highest industry standards and is carried out in accordance with the Education Act's requirements for quality and safety.
As the WBL Coordinator for the Restaurant and Food Programme and the Hotel and Tourism Programme, you are responsible for finding and quality-assuring WBL placements that match our students' specializations. Your task is to match each student with the right workplace based on educational goals and the student's profile, whether it concerns WBL or apprenticeship training. You drive the work to continuously raise the quality of our collaborations with the industry.
Your mission is largely about building bridges. You play a leading role in recruiting new WBL placements and strengthening cooperation between the school and industry actors. An important part of your work is to ensure that our partner companies meet the requirements for Visita certification. You also support the workplaces by ensuring that mentors have the right training and conditions to receive our students in a pedagogical and safe manner.
You represent the school in the industry council and ensure that we maintain close cooperation with the business community. By keeping yourself updated on trends and requirements in the restaurant and food industry, you contribute to ensuring that our education is always relevant and meets the needs of the labor market.
In close collaboration with our vocational teachers, you are responsible for developing and coordinating the school's routines for WBL. The role involves operational responsibility where you map the availability of placements and handle administration in Vklass Praktik. There, you create students' internship periods, connect the right companies and mentors with the responsible teacher, and set up the student's goals and associated tasks.
You participate in our programme councils and conduct mentor training for both school staff and our representatives in the business community.
You have a special focus on securing good WBL placements for students who need adaptations in their school day. This requires you to be proactive in seeking out new companies and to have the ability to nurture and develop relationships with our existing partners.
You are responsible for drafting WBL contracts and ensuring that risk assessments of workplaces are carried out and documented according to the Swedish Work Environment Authority's regulations. This is a central part of the work to guarantee a safe and secure learning environment for our students out in the industry.
We view the role as an expert function where your deep knowledge of both the pedagogical education and the industry's expectations is crucial. You work without pretension and, when needed, support the central administration with tasks such as recruiting substitutes or distributing materials at the start of the school year.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a certified vocational teacher within the Restaurant and Food Programme or the Hotel and Tourism Programme. You have extensive industry experience and a broad network that you want to use to give our students the best possible conditions. You have good insight into and experience with the WBL assignment and understand how crucial practical learning is for the student's path to a vocational diploma.
To succeed in the role, we see that you have a good understanding of the school's governing documents and how WBL functions as part of the education. You enjoy working closely with both students and teachers and have a genuinely inclusive approach.
As a person, you are skilled at building and maintaining professional relationships with various industry actors. You have a driving and structured working method with experience in creating functioning routines and working towards set quality goals. Since the role involves a lot of collaboration, you need to have good initiative and the ability to motivate both students and mentors at companies. You are also confident in your documentation, have good IT skills, and see the value in sharing good examples within the operation.
We place great importance on qualities such as creativity, ability to collaborate, and willingness to develop the operation. Your ability to listen to other people in order to understand their needs makes you flexible and solution-focused if the situation requires it. You can change how you work when things change. As a colleague, you contribute to creating good cohesion and a good work climate. You take responsibility for your tasks and drive the work forward. You can quickly change your perspective and approach and see opportunities in changes.
We look forward to your application! Attach your teacher's license with subject eligibility.
Conditions
For your interview, you need to bring your passport/national ID and, if applicable, proof of residence permit if you have citizenship outside the EU/EEA. This is because we, as an employer, need to verify your identity and ensure that you have the right to work in Sweden.
With reference to the laws regulating registry checks, anyone offered this position must present an extract from the criminal record register before an employment contract can be established.
For positions where there are educational requirements, you will be asked to submit documentation supporting your education, e.g., license or diploma, if you proceed in the recruitment process. You can also attach them directly to your application.
