Description

At Gårdstens School, an adapted primary school, we are currently seeking a special education teacher with a specialization in intellectual disabilities to teach subject-based curriculum.

Gårdstens School's adapted primary school serves students with intellectual disabilities. We work based on each student's individual needs and prerequisites. We have three classes in grades 4–6 with six students following the subject curriculum. In grades 6–9, we have eight students following the subject curriculum, and in grades 4–9, we have seven students following the subject areas curriculum.

For our students, it is important to have a low-arousal approach, AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication), and clarifying pedagogy. We work towards the adapted primary school's curriculum for subjects. We share the school building with the regular primary school, which provides excellent opportunities for collaboration between the two schools for the benefit of the students. In addition to teachers, student assistants also work at the school. We plan, develop, and carry out the students' education. Our task is to be flexible and see opportunities before obstacles.

Responsibilities

You will teach and work in a team consisting of teachers and student assistants. The position involves teaching in grades 6–9, where you are responsible for planning, implementation, analysis, and communication regarding the pedagogical work. At our school, you work closely with colleagues in the adapted primary school as well as with educators at the regular primary school, as we have students included in several classes for subjects such as handicraft and home economics. We co-plan, collaborate, and co-assess to create a safe and developing learning environment, and you will contribute to driving the operations forward.

Your work includes being the pedagogical leader for the student assistants. You must have good knowledge of didactics and subject knowledge, as well as a good understanding of and work based on our regulatory documents.

The school is located on Saffransgatan, close to the natural areas of Vättlefjäll and Lärjeån, as well as Angereds Center. It is easy to get here by bus and tram. We offer you the opportunity to influence your own work situation through participation in planning and development work, personal development, and functional and pleasant premises.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed primary school teacher with further education as a special education teacher with a specialization in intellectual disabilities (IF). We prefer that you have a broad qualification in your primary school degree. Experience in adapted primary schools is an asset, preferably with a focus on subjects.

We also require you to be familiar with ICT (Information and Communication Technology) both in teaching and as a working tool. Furthermore, knowledge of early reading and writing instruction is an asset. You should be well-versed in the regulatory documents for adapted primary schools and wish to develop the pedagogical activities based on the students' needs and prerequisites.

As a person, you take responsibility for your own and the shared tasks with the best interests of the operation in focus. You have a positive attitude and find it easy to adapt yourself and your working methods. You are good at collaborating and creating good relationships with students, colleagues, and guardians. You capture the students' interest and curiosity so that learning becomes enjoyable.
