Stenungsund – A Good Society with Hope for the Future

Stenungsund Municipality is an expanding coastal community with approximately 28,030 inhabitants, a strong business sector, residential areas close to the sea, and excellent transport links. The municipality boasts a well-developed cultural and association life, as well as great opportunities for outdoor activities and recreation. Wholeness, openness, participation, and transparency are the municipality's guiding principles.

The municipality's vision is to reach 35,000 inhabitants by 2035. Stenungsund is a member of the Gothenburg Region Municipality Association, a forum for cooperation and exchange of experience, as well as several other inter-municipal collaborations.

For just under a year, Stenungsund has had an exciting, goal-oriented collaboration between the primary school, the central child and student health services, and the family support unit – a school social team! Now, we are welcoming three new colleagues.

Job Responsibilities

Do you want to work in an environment where relationships, structure, and pedagogy meet? We are looking for teachers who want to make a real difference for students, contributing to safety, a conducive learning environment, and a return to regular school settings.

In Stenungsund Municipality, there are three school social teams working in operational collaboration for our children and students. The teams consist of social pedagogues and school social workers, working preventively, proactively, and remedially together with teachers and student health services to create a safer school experience for all students.

We are now expanding the teams with the teaching profession to also provide pedagogical support, primarily to students at risk of disciplinary measures or those needing re-establishment of attendance.

The assignment consists of two parts: A preventive part within regular operations and a remedial part in the form of individual instruction.

As a teacher in a school social team, you will work with students who are temporarily outside their home school due to social, emotional, or pedagogical difficulties. The assignment is intensive, relational, and solution-focused. You will combine teaching with relational leadership and close collaboration with regular teachers, student health services, and other professionals.

The preventive part of the assignment involves working in the regular school environment together with school staff to strengthen teaching structures, contribute to safety and a conducive learning environment, and provide pedagogical support at group and individual levels before difficulties escalate. The focus is on creating sustainable learning environments and giving the organization tools that benefit more students over time.

Role Description:

  • Work operationally in our schools in classes, groups, and with individual students, focusing on attendance, safety, and a conducive learning environment.
  • Contribute pedagogical competence at group and individual levels in regular operations based on assignments to the school social team.
  • Teach students outside of regular instruction.
  • Collaborate with regular teachers regarding the planning of instruction for students.
  • Map students' pedagogical needs and propose measures for returning to regular instruction.
  • Act as an operational bridge and support for the student and the organization during the return to the home school.
  • Collaborate closely with social pedagogues and school social workers to create a holistic view of the student's schooling.
  • Document and contribute pedagogical underpinning to action plans and proposals for measures.
  • Contribute to the systematic quality and development work for the development of student health and school social teams.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have:

  • Teacher license with eligibility for grades 4–9 or equivalent.
  • Good knowledge of curriculum documents, extra adaptations, and special support.
  • Class B driver's license.

Merits:

  • Education in special education.
  • Experience with challenging situations with students.
  • Experience with low-arousal and/or trauma-informed approaches.
  • Experience working in student health services, resource schools, or similar operations.
  • Experience in school social work or student health work.

Personal Qualities:

We are looking for someone who is calm, stable, and secure even in pressured situations. You have high emotional maturity, good self-awareness, and a genuine interest in the development of children and young people. You work in a structured and systematic way in both daily operational work and quality work, and have good initiative and self-leadership skills.

You find it easy to create and maintain professional relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues. You feel secure teaching various subjects, having difficult conversations, and taking on different roles in meetings. You are flexible, solution-oriented, and enjoy close teamwork while also being able to work independently. Sensitivity and respect for children's and young people's perspectives are a natural part of your approach.

Recruitment Process

Interviews will take place in two steps:

  • Step 1: Digital interviews on Wednesday, April 29, morning.
