The Social Administration provides support to the residents of Botkyrka and is responsible for the exercise of authority, primarily according to the Social Services Act. Support is provided to both individuals and their relatives. The Social Administration has a special responsibility for children, young people, and adults in need of support according to social legislation. We are approximately 500 employees who, with strength-based working methods, provide support to the residents of Botkyrka in an equitable, fair, and secure manner.

The Position and Duties

We are currently seeking a Social Secretary for a permanent position within financial assistance. With us, you will have the opportunity to contribute to ensuring that people in Botkyrka receive the right support to achieve self-sufficiency. Client contact is central to our work, and we work in a strength-based manner, focusing on the individual's resources.

As a Social Secretary, you are an authority figure and make decisions based on current legislation and guidelines. You are responsible for investigating, assessing, and deciding on subsistence support in a legally secure and professional manner. You collaborate with colleagues within the unit and with other actors to find sustainable solutions that meet the client's needs. Signs of Safety (SoFS) is an established approach within the social services in Botkyrka. Within financial assistance, tools such as mapping, scaling questions, and appreciative interviews are used centrally in both client meetings and case handling.

Your main duties include:

  • motivating and supporting clients on their path to self-sufficiency
  • collaborating with other units within social services and external actors such as the Public Employment Service, the Social Insurance Agency, healthcare, and other authorities to create holistic solutions
  • investigating the right to financial assistance and making decisions according to the Social Services Act
  • documenting and following up on cases in accordance with current routines.

Financial Assistance and the Work and Employment unit have during 2025 carried out joint work in line with the reform regarding activity requirements. You will be part of continuing to develop this work so that residents of Botkyrka who have previously not been reached by labor market measures now receive meaningful employment. The continued work takes place in close collaboration between the units, with joint assessments and a focus on identifying any gaps to ensure that no one falls through the cracks.

You Who Apply to Us

We are looking for you who have a degree in Social Work.

We consider the following to be meritorious:

  • Experience of exercising authority within social services, including case handling and assessment according to the Social Services Act (SoL).
  • Experience of documentation and administration in case management as well as personal meetings with clients.
  • Experience with Lifecare for case management and documentation.
  • Experience within financial assistance, work, and subsistence, including case handling and client contact.
  • Experience of applying the social insurance system.

As a Social Secretary within financial assistance, you need to be collaborative and work closely with both internal and external actors, such as colleagues in the team, the Public Employment Service, education providers, and other partners. Together, you coordinate measures that lead the client towards self-sufficiency. You are relationship-building in meetings with clients and build trust by being respectful, professional, and accessible. This provides good conditions for investigating and assessing needs even in complex or emotionally charged situations.

You are structured and drive your cases forward by planning, prioritizing, and following up on measures in a systematic way. In this way, you ensure that decisions on subsistence support are made in a legally secure and efficient manner. Stability in your working method allows you to maintain focus even when the work places high demands, giving you the ability to meet vulnerable clients with a low-affective approach. By staying in the assignment even when the situation is pressured, you create security and contribute to long-term solutions.
