Together, we are developing Sahlgrenska University Hospital for a sustainable future. We are transforming healthcare with the goal of becoming Europe's leading university hospital by 2032. Together with our patients, we work for quality, accessibility, patient safety, research, education, and innovation – within an integrated healthcare system in the Västra Götaland Region. Our vision and goals aim for care of the highest quality, where the patient is always at the center. We provide healthcare locally and regionally, as well as highly specialized care to patients throughout the country and abroad. Our employees are our strength, contributing to knowledge exchange nationally and internationally. With digital tools and new ways of working, we can simplify daily life at the hospital and offer modern, accessible, and efficient care of the highest quality.
About the Department
Neuropsychiatry is one of five adult psychiatric departments within Sahlgrenska University Hospital. We provide specialized psychiatric care with a focus on neuropsychiatry, memory-related diseases, geriatric psychiatry, psychiatry for the deaf and hard of hearing, psychiatry for patients with eating disorders, psychiatry for patients with intellectual disabilities, and patients with Huntington's disease. Within the department, we have an active and successful research unit.
The Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic for Intellectual Disabilities is a highly specialized unit serving patients aged 18 and older with intellectual disabilities (ID) combined with behavioral problems or psychiatric issues at a specialist care level. The catchment area includes the Västra Götaland Region and northern Halland. A research study (SweDown - West) is currently underway at the clinic, aiming to improve dementia assessments for individuals with Down syndrome.
What do we offer?
We are a knowledge-intensive organization with a good atmosphere and staffing situation, as well as competent colleagues who are passionate about working with our target group. Development and improvement work are ongoing. We have clear goals and working methods.
The department has a social worker group, regular profession-specific meetings, close collaboration, and shared responsibility for social work students during their clinical training.
Our goal is to provide our patients with the best possible care while offering our employees a workplace that stimulates development and further education. We have excellent opportunities for professional development.
Responsibilities
We are currently seeking an additional social worker for the clinic. The social worker's role involves working with the psychosocial factors surrounding the patient. You will, for example, conduct assessments of patients' social situations, provide support in financial matters, write service reports, maintain individual treatment/counseling contacts over time for both patients and relatives, and facilitate patient and support groups. Collaboration with authorities, other healthcare providers, municipalities, and social services is a key responsibility. The work includes conducting initial and follow-up visits. The clinic also has an educational mission regarding the target group towards other stakeholders. This includes network work around the clinic's patients, as well as pure educational and knowledge-enhancing initiatives towards healthcare neighbors. Advisory work, supervision, and training of staff, as well as development work, are therefore part of the social worker's duties. Responsibilities also include participating in SIP meetings and other care meetings. We maintain close collaboration with stakeholders and relatives involved in the patient's care and support.
Work at the unit is characterized by teamwork, collaborating around the patient and contributing unique professional competence. The team currently consists of physicians, nurses, support pedagogues/specialist nurses, social workers, and psychologists. The work is varied, and contact with patients and networks can occur via outpatient visits, home visits, and digital consultations.
About You
We are looking for someone with a degree in social work. We prefer candidates who are licensed healthcare social workers. You are meticulous and structured, yet productive. You can work independently but also possess strong collaboration skills. You have an interest and commitment to the patient group, place the patient at the center, and are responsive. We look for someone who is solution-focused, flexible, and interested in developing and improving care. Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.
A probationary period may be applied.
We warmly welcome your application!
