Drottning Blanka High School in Gävle started in 2013 and offers vocational and university preparatory education in the Economic Program, Social Sciences Program, Hairdressing and Styling Program, and Sales and Service Program. The school has about 400 students and 35 staff members. We are now looking for a vocational teacher in hairdressing.

Your Mission

Since its inception in 2013, the school has trained hair and makeup stylists. We are now broadening our operations with a hairdressing profile starting in August 2026. Therefore, we are looking for a vocational teacher in hairdressing who wants to help build Gävle's best hairdressing education.

The position is 80 - 100% depending on what we agree upon and is a permanent position with a 6-month probationary period starting August 11, 2026.

As a vocational teacher in hairdressing, you take great responsibility for planning and conducting the teaching. You will have good opportunities to influence the design of the school's salon and the structure of the education in consultation with the principal and colleagues within the program. You will also be the face of the program to present it to future students both at open houses and on social media.

Subjects and tasks included in this year's service planning are as follows:

• Hairdressing - Technique 1
• Hairdressing - Technique 2
• Hair Care and Salon Knowledge 1
• Hair Care and Salon Knowledge 2
• APL - Preparatory work to find APL placements for year two.
• Mentorship for students in the Hairdressing and Styling Program
• Support colleagues within the program as needed.
• (Possible responsibility for the school's social media)

Your Profile

Primarily, we are looking for someone who is a licensed vocational teacher or has extensive professional experience as a hairdresser. If you do not have a vocational teacher's degree, we expect you to have the willingness to study to become a licensed vocational teacher in the future. However, the most important thing is good professional knowledge, pedagogical skills, and the desire to create a really good education for the students.

It is an advantage if you have experience mentoring APL students, have a journeyman's certificate as a hairdresser, and experience as a hair and makeup stylist.

Therefore, we are looking for someone who has a strong personal commitment to both the content of the education and in communication with students and guardians. We believe in the motto "it is important to us that you succeed" and therefore go the extra mile to ensure our students graduate.

As a teacher, you are attentive, have good structure in both planning and lesson design, and have a good ability to create motivation and a conducive learning environment among our students.

As a colleague, you take responsibility for both small and large issues in everyday life and want to actively contribute to the school's development during joint conferences.

We Offer

As a vocational teacher, you will be part of a team with several vocational teachers at the school. You work closely with each other and have continuous conferences to develop the program and collaboration on assessment issues. You are also part of a larger network with vocational teachers from our 25 other schools within Drottning Blanka and meet through digital meetings a few times a year.

You also have the opportunity for internal professional development by visiting one of our other schools in Gothenburg for a kickoff for teachers in hairdressing and hair and makeup styling.
