About the Role and Your Responsibilities

As a special teacher, you will:

• Plan, implement, and follow up on teaching adapted for students with intellectual disabilities (ID).
• Be involved in the development of the school's pedagogical structure, routines, and learning environment.
• Work with assessments, pedagogical investigations, and action plans.
• Guide and collaborate with other staff in the work team.
• Have close cooperation with student health, guardians, and external actors.

You create opportunities for each student to develop and be motivated through a relational working method, clarifying pedagogy, and alternative and augmentative communication.

As a special teacher in a class, you are part of a team, but also the pedagogical leader who distributes the work and guides the teaching assistants you collaborate with. You work preventively to remove barriers in various learning environments and to develop work related to support measures and adaptations for our students. When necessary, you provide support for students in personal care such as toilet visits and during meals.

You are part of a larger work team with experienced teachers who together develop our operations. Your role includes collaborating with child and youth habilitation and other external actors.

We are now looking for an engaged and experienced special teacher with a focus on ID who wants to become part of our school.

We are looking for someone who:

• Is a licensed teacher with a special teacher degree focused on ID.
• Has experience working with students with intellectual disabilities.
• Has good knowledge of adaptations and alternative and augmentative communication (AAC).
• Is confident, structured, and has a low-arousal approach.

About the Workplace

Fågelskolan, located in the western parts of Lund, is a K-9 school with a regular school and an adapted primary school with approximately 450 students. The adapted primary school is divided into age-mixed classes and is locally integrated with the rest of the school.
