The Järfälla Language Center is responsible for the reception of newly arrived students, mother tongue instruction, and study guidance in Järfälla Municipality. With us, you will belong to a staff group that currently consists of about 60 educators, most of whom work as both mother tongue teachers and study guides. The vision of the Language Center is to provide multilingual students with good conditions to succeed in school and with future goals.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a study guide, you support students in their language and knowledge development with the help of their mother tongue, and act as a cultural and linguistic bridge. You do this, among other things, through close collaboration with the student's mentor and teaching teachers. You conduct high-quality teaching and have an inclusive approach.

The position includes:

• planning study guidance based on the student's and subject's needs
• planning your study guidance in collaboration with subject teachers, mentors, and other educational staff to meet the student's individual needs
• using digital tools for both students' learning and planning and documentation of teaching
• reporting attendance
• being the face of Järfälla Language Center

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who:

• has the relevant language as their mother tongue
• has very good knowledge of Swedish and their mother tongue in both spoken and written form
• has good knowledge of the culture and school systems in the countries the students come from
• has good knowledge of Swedish culture and the Swedish school system
• is familiar with the Swedish school's curriculum and governing documents
• has a teacher's degree or equivalent educational training and experience
• has experience in study guidance
• is comfortable meeting students individually and in groups and creating good relationships
• has good computer skills
• has great flexibility and a solution-focused approach as there may be rapid changes in the assignment based on the needs of the schools
• is used to taking significant personal responsibility and can work independently

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
