What Does the Job Entail?

Piano teaching in groups and individually. The work may also involve accompaniment for dance lessons. For younger students, a basic course in music is offered, and from the age of nine, regular piano lessons are available. Teaching takes place both in groups and individually in well-equipped piano rooms, mainly centrally but also in our branches. We have digital piano studios for groups and acoustic pianos and grand pianos for solo playing.

You will primarily work at the central cultural school but may also teach at a branch on some days, with Saturday teaching occurring. You will work in subject teams with other teachers and participate in working groups for planning joint activities. The job also includes planning time, meeting time, and participation in various projects and activities with other subjects at the cultural school.

The extent of the position depends on your qualifications and which working days become relevant.

Who Are We Looking For?

We are looking for someone who has:

• music college education or equivalent with a focus on piano pedagogy
• documented experience teaching piano at a cultural school or equivalent, with a particular focus on younger children
• experience in pop, jazz, and rock
• experience in group methodology and ensemble methodology.

We consider it an advantage if you have:

• experience creating adapted materials for teaching and ensemble playing within the piano area
• experience with secondary instruments
• teaching certification.

You play piano at a high level and are an experienced ensemble musician and accompanist. It is particularly advantageous if you are familiar with ear training, chord playing, and improvisation. You master various genres and can lead and arrange music for a backing group.

You have the ability to inspire children and young people through your teaching. You are independent, have a good drive, and love to create musical encounters with children and young people. It is important that you enjoy developing your work in collaboration with colleagues and in dialogue with students. Our cultural school values cross-disciplinary collaboration between art forms.
