Head of Internal Audit at the Swedish Migration Agency

At the Swedish Migration Agency, we work with one of the major societal issues of our time – migration. We are a total of about 6,000 people here, and we have an unusually important job!

Do you want to contribute to strengthening internal governance, control, and compliance in a government agency with an important societal mission?

The Swedish Migration Agency is looking for a head of the agency's internal audit, who with high integrity, professionalism, and good judgment wants to lead and further develop the agency's independent internal audit function.

The role offers an opportunity to work closely with the agency's top management and contribute to long-term quality, efficiency, and legal certainty in operations.

About the role as head of internal audit

The mission of the internal audit is to review with a high degree of objectivity and integrity whether the agency's operations and processes are conducted efficiently, legally, and with good management of state funds, as well as to make proposals for improvements in risk management, internal governance, and control. The audit is conducted according to good practice and within the framework of the internal audit regulation and the regulation on internal governance and control.

As head of internal audit, you lead an independent function that reports directly to the Director General. You have full responsibility for personnel, budget, and working environment and report to the agency's Deputy Director General. You identify, together with your employees, areas for improvement and create structure and conditions for participation and drive a culture of accountability and development. The internal audit at the Swedish Migration Agency consists of a total of four employees. As head of internal audit, you are expected to conduct your own reviews.

Who are you?

Personal qualities are very important in the role of head of internal audit. You meet high demands for judgment, integrity, and decisiveness. You have a very good analytical ability and a well-developed communication ability in both speech and writing.

As a leader, you find it easy to collaborate and have a solution-oriented and unpretentious approach, while being driven and strategic. You have a good ability to lead and motivate your employees. You are used to working in a structured way with clear goals and good planning, as well as making priorities for yourself and your employees.

You who apply have:

  • an academic education of at least 120 credits in a relevant field or other education combined with relevant experience for the role
  • experience in internal audit according to the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) standards
  • good knowledge and experience of working with internal governance and control within the public administration
  • experience in developing and revising risk analyses, audit plans, internal audit manuals, and guidelines
  • experience as a manager or audit leader in internal audit where you have independently driven audits from start to finish, including responsibility for producing audit reports
  • Swedish citizenship.

It is meritorious if you have:

  • certification as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).

Information

Employment type: permanent, probationary employment applies.

Working hours: trust-based working hours.

Location: Norrköping or Stockholm.

Start date: as soon as possible according to agreement.

Security clearance with background check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585) will be conducted. Based on this, there is a requirement for Swedish citizenship. Employment is subject to a successful security clearance.
