Unit Manager in Cryptographic Operations
At FRA, we work on something that no one else does in Sweden, and you can be a part of it. Regardless of your job role, we contribute to societal benefit by working towards a meaningful purpose — together we tackle unique tasks for Sweden's security and integrity.
We offer interesting tasks with good opportunities for personal development, and we are convinced that a mix of people from different backgrounds creates a dynamic and creative work environment – our differences are our strength.
Do you want to contribute to societal benefit and help maintain Sweden's independence in the world? We are now looking for a committed and experienced leader who wants to contribute their knowledge in the role of unit manager within cryptographic operations. At FRA, every task is part of something larger. If you are the one we are looking for, we can offer a varied job in a knowledge-intensive environment where you can make a difference every day.
Your Mission
As a unit manager, you belong to the cryptographic office under the cyber operations department. The department has two main tasks: to strengthen protection against qualified IT attacks on critical societal operations in Sweden and to develop and deliver access and exploitation capabilities to the signals intelligence operations.
You will lead a unit within the cryptographic office tasked with driving one or more production areas. In this role, you will have overall responsibility for the unit's capability development and operational production. The tasks also include important administrative efforts – recruitment, budget planning, and personnel responsibility for your unit. The operations can be described as both exciting and challenging, with a clear opportunity to make a tangible difference for Sweden.
You will be part of a management team where you, together with your managerial colleagues, drive and develop the section's operations. Your points of contact are primarily within your own department but also, where applicable, within other parts of FRA and with adjacent authorities. Contacts and collaborations with other authorities and partners mean that travel within and outside Sweden is included in the position.
You Can
We are looking for someone who has:
- A university or college degree
- At least two years of work experience in a managerial or leadership role
- Experience in recruitment and personnel responsibility
- Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English
We consider it an advantage if you have:
- A university degree in relevant fields, such as natural sciences, computer science, or another technical area.
- Experience in intelligence work
- Experience in the telecom or IT sector
- Experience in creating and developing external contacts
You Are
We are looking for someone with the following qualities:
- Collaborative ability – You work well with others. Relate to them in a responsive and smooth manner. Listen, communicate, and resolve conflicts constructively.
- Relationship-building – You are outgoing and socially active in professional contexts. Create contacts and maintain relationships.
- Problem-solving analytical ability – You work well with complex issues. Analyze and break down problems into their components and solve complicated problems.
- Development-oriented – You easily embrace and see opportunities with new ideas, methods, and ways of working. Drive and implement change.
