Welcome to us

The Sports Administration is led by the sports director with an associated team and departments.

After a recent organizational review, we are now looking for a new unit manager for the unit of sports strategy and development, which is part of the department for operational support and development. We are looking for an engaged and strategic manager for the unit, who combines leadership with specialist knowledge and the drive to develop working methods and processes. The unit currently consists of fourteen employees responsible for;

  • sports strategic issues
  • the administration's communication
  • event coordination
  • social sustainability, which includes driving issues that strengthen inclusion, safety, human rights issues, and prioritized target groups
  • process and quality development, which includes leading the administration's work with planning, follow-up, and leading the administration's quality and development work

We work, among other things, to;

  • coordinate and prepare needs and decision-making documentation in collaboration with relevant parties and draft matters for the sports committee
  • collaborate internally, regionally, and nationally
  • develop programs, guidelines, and application instructions
  • educate and support operations in various issues
  • conduct surveys, investigations, and analyses, as well as work with strategies in a complex organization.

Within the unit, there are employees who have special functional responsibilities to coordinate and drive issues in various areas.

Your role

The role involves a combination of leadership and practical development work. As the manager of the unit, you have full personnel, budget, and operational responsibility where you lead and develop the unit while also being actively involved in the administration's development work.

This means that you:

  • lead strategically as you are responsible for setting direction, prioritizing, and ensuring that the unit achieves its goals
  • work operationally to develop processes, routines, and working methods for effective governance, coordination, and follow-up of the administration's work, ensuring alignment with the city's governance and follow-up routines
  • drive improvements by identifying needs, testing new solutions, and following up on results to ensure that governance, coordination, and follow-up work optimally.

In short, you are both a manager and a developer in a role where you lead others and also contribute to concrete improvements.

Your competence and experience

We are looking for an experienced and goal-oriented leader with:

  • relevant academic degree, for example in behavioral science, social science, communication
  • managerial experience including personnel, budget, and operational responsibility
  • solid and documented experience in leading change and implementing improvement and development work.

It is an advantage if you have experience working within public administration.
