We are now looking for a Department Manager for Muskövarvet - a central and responsible role in a technically advanced and security-classified environment. As a department manager, you are responsible for leading, planning, and developing the operations within your department, with full responsibility for personnel, working environment, technology, and results.
The role involves close collaboration with the production manager and other department managers. You have a clear mandate to make decisions within established financial frameworks and are expected to actively contribute to both the department's and the company's overall improvement efforts.
The position is both strategic and operational, where you combine leadership with technical preparation and presence in the operations. You play an important role in ensuring that work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable laws, agreements, and internal governing documents.

ResponsibilitiesAs a department manager, you are responsible for planning, leading, and following up on the daily operations within your department.
You have delegated personnel responsibility, which includes:
supervision and staffing of approximately 8-12 people
daily dialogue, follow-up, and support for employees
management of absenteeism, rehabilitation, and any work adjustments
conducting employee discussions, salary discussions, and competence development
An important part of the role is to create clarity around expectations and tasks, as well as to contribute to good collaboration and a safe working climate in the department.
You are also responsible for technical preparation within your area of operations. This means participating in cost calculations, cost and time assessments, and producing clear job descriptions and instructions.
Responsibility for work environment and environmental issues is a central part of the position. You are responsible for ensuring that systematic work environment efforts are continuously conducted within the department, including risk assessments, permits for hot work, and follow-up of work environment rounds. You ensure that employees are given the opportunity to participate in work environment efforts and that applicable laws, regulations, and instructions are followed.
In case of obstacles, risks, or situations where the task cannot be carried out safely or correctly, you are responsible for initiating measures or, if necessary, reporting the task in writing to the production manager.
You actively participate in budget work for your own department and are responsible for ensuring that operations are conducted within established financial frameworks. Any deviations or deficiencies are reported to the production manager as soon as they are discovered.

Scope: Full-time
Working Hours: Mon-Thu 7-16, Fri 7-13:30

QualificationsExperience in a leadership position within industrial or technical operations
Experience in personnel responsibility and work environment efforts
Good technical understanding
Experience in planning, follow-up, and documentation
Good computer skills
Technical post-secondary education
Experience in technical preparation, cost calculation, or project work
Experience from workshops, shipyard operations, or defense industry
Knowledge in labor law or HR-related issues

About the ClientMuskövarvet AB is a sought-after and recognized maintenance and repair yard established in 2005 and has been part of the defense group Saab since 2018. The operations are mainly conducted in Örlogshamnen on Muskö, about 60 km south of Stockholm.
The yard works with comprehensive solutions for both military and civilian vessels – from construction, service, and technical support to repairs, conversions, and maintenance, on vessels up to approximately 50 tons.
