Role: Interim Unit Manager
Scope: 100%
Duration: 2026-08-17 – ongoing (6–12 months)
Location: Stockholm (possibility of remote work up to 50%)
About the Assignment
We are currently seeking an interim Unit Manager for a central government administrative agency.
The unit is responsible for matters related to state grants for the management of valuable cultural heritage sites, as well as support for non-profit organizations within the cultural heritage sector. The unit also handles follow-up, evaluation, and supervision related to the application of the Cultural Heritage Act.
Furthermore, the unit has a special responsibility for the development and monitoring of the commissioned archaeology system. Currently, important development work is also underway to strengthen the prerequisites for a more proactive and systematic approach to ancient monuments in relation to societal construction measures.
About the Role
As Unit Manager, you lead a group of specialists, such as investigators and case handlers, in their daily work. You have responsibility for personnel, budget, and operations, and you are part of the department's management team.
The unit consists of approximately nine employees, with further recruitment ongoing. The team is based in Stockholm but has the option for hybrid work.
The assignment is interim, pending permanent recruitment, and is expected to last 6–12 months. Start date is desired at the end of August or beginning of September.
Qualifications
Requirements
- Several years of experience as a manager with responsibility for personnel, operations, and budget
- Extensive experience from government administration
- Experience in change management
- University degree in law, behavioral science, social science, or economics
- Experience leading qualified specialists
- Good communication skills and clear leadership style
Merits
- Experience from cultural and nature conservation issues or grant funding
- Knowledge of cultural heritage legislation and related regulations
- Experience with societal planning processes
- Experience working in complex public organizations
