Unit Manager for Promotion and Preventive Social Services
Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. We are now looking for you who want to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.
Welcome to us
We are now looking for you who want to become a unit manager in the department for promotion and preventive social services.
We are in a development-intensive phase and are looking for someone who wants to drive and develop the department's work in close collaboration with our operations. The department offers promotional and preventive services to the residents of Järva in the areas of early social support, support and services, leisure, and outpatient care. With us, you have the opportunity to become an important part of the development of the department and the Järva district administration.
The Järva district administration is one of the larger district areas in Stockholm, with over 90,000 residents, a rich association life, and an active civil society. The district administration and other operations in the city work together with Focus Järva, a cohesive investment and a consolidated plan for the development of Järva.
We offer
An important and challenging role where you make a difference and have a significant impact in creating trust and confidence in the administration's mission. With the new social services act, your contribution will be crucial in leading and developing the department's work for preventive early interventions and first-line social services. We have a strong focus on the residents of Järva, and our operations are characterized by collaboration, courage, empathy, and respectful treatment.
We offer a stimulating and multifaceted managerial assignment with good opportunities for professional development and a large network within the City of Stockholm. With us, we have a welcoming atmosphere and a good working environment where we share knowledge and collaborate to achieve our goals.
Your role
As a unit manager, you have a key role in the department's work with governance, follow-up, and quality development. You are responsible for leading, coordinating, streamlining, and further developing the department's administrative processes and joint assignments.
You report directly to the department head and are part of the department's management group together with four area managers. Together, you drive the work forward based on politically set goals and ensure that the department's assignments are carried out with high quality.
The role also involves many points of contact where you have a central function in the strategic work and collaborate both internally within the administration, within the City of Stockholm, and with external actors.
You lead a unit with six employees with different competencies and are responsible for operations, budget, and personnel. The unit consists of three investigators, two prevention coordinators, and a project manager for first-line social services. The department is in an expansive phase, which means that the unit's workgroup will gradually grow.
Your competence and experience
We are looking for someone who has:
- a degree in social work or an equivalent completed higher education.
- several years of experience working with social services' outpatient interventions, particularly preventive measures.
- several years of experience as a manager with operational, budget, and personnel responsibility.
- current experience of working within a politically governed organization.
- experience in leading and driving development and change work.
- good knowledge of and is well-versed in the new social services act.
- good knowledge of the Swedish language and the ability to express yourself well in speech and writing.
We consider it an advantage if you have:
- experience of working as a manager of managers.
- experience of working within the City of Stockholm.
- good knowledge of working in an area with similar conditions and challenges as Järva.
We will place great emphasis on the following competencies in the recruitment:
- Goal- and result-oriented: Works towards goals and focuses on results. Guided by goal- and result-oriented thinking in priorities, planning, and actions.
- Development-oriented: Is proactive and driving in development work. Promotes innovation and diversity. Engages and actively works with constructive feedback and develops their own leadership.
- Collaborative ability: Contributes to good collaboration by having an open, accommodating, and problem-solving approach. Relates and communicates with others in a responsive and smooth manner. Handles conflicts constructively.
- Clear: Communicates clearly. Ensures and follows up that messages reach their destination and that expectations are clear for all parties involved.
- Holistic view: Ability to see the whole and take into account the larger perspective. You understand your role and assignment while also considering the best interests of the entire operation in your actions and decisions.
We place great importance on personal suitability, motivation, and commitment to the position.
Other
The recruitment process consists of interviews, psychological tests, and reference checks.
The appointment of the position is subject to necessary decisions being made. The City of Stockholm works with competency-based recruitment aimed at recognizing each person's competencies and thereby counteracting discrimination.
We recruit without a personal letter to strengthen the focus on competence and experience for this role. When you submit your application, you will answer a number of questions. When we assess your application, we will base it on your CV and the questions you have answered. After the application deadline, we will review all applications.
We see diversity as enriching and welcome all applicants.
