Job Description Background and Assignment Description

Svenska kraftnät is in an expansive development phase and plans significant investments over the next 10 years. With an increasing number of complex projects, the demands in the finance area are rising, and therefore our project managers and lead project managers need your support in managing financial issues in their projects. The project economist will primarily work in SVK's construction program Marina connections (HVDC/HVAC connections consisting of, among other things, stations and underwater cables) but also in other construction programs and projects. The Marina connections program includes projects that are both complex and complicated infrastructure projects with a total budget exceeding 20 billion SEK. The projects are carried out either through traditional execution contracts, turnkey contracts, or collaborative/partnering contracts. In this assignment, the project economist will work both in individual projects within a program or in a main project that includes multiple projects. The assignments will vary over time depending on the needs and the phases the projects are in. Many of the projects are carried out with international partners (TSOs) as well as with international suppliers. The assignment involves close collaboration with project managers, lead project managers, and expert functions and requires high analytical skills, a structured approach, and a good understanding of governance in public projects.

Responsibilities

• The resource will be part of a unit within Svenska kraftnät responsible for project and program support within the investment operations for construction projects. The unit includes both employees and consultants with corresponding assignments, which means that the work is carried out in close collaboration and with joint development of methods and working practices. The responsibilities include, among other things, jointly supporting project managers and lead project managers with forecasts, calculations, analyses, and investigations of financial issues such as accounting issues, financial planning, and follow-up within construction projects on the grid. Analyze and follow up on the causes of deviations from forecasts and annual plans in projects together with project managers and lead project managers.

Requirements

• University degree in finance.

• At least 10 years of work experience as an economist.

• At least 5 years of work experience in the last 10 years in the role of economist within project operations, for example as a project controller, program controller, or project economist. The experience should be from construction or infrastructure projects where individual projects had a budget of at least 0.5 billion SEK. The main task should have been to work as financial support to projects and project managers, lead project managers, or equivalent roles. The experience should relate to operational and project-close work. Experience of overall controlling at portfolio or organizational level is not accepted as fulfilling the requirement.

• At least 3 years of work experience in the role of economist in project operations (for example as project controller, program controller, or project economist) with international partners.

• At least 4 years of work experience in the role of economist in construction or infrastructure projects that have been carried out as collaborative contracts or partnering.

Merit: - At least 5 years of work experience as a project economist/project controller or similar role on both contractor and client sides in project operations

• Participated in business development projects within cost control for projects

• At least 3 years of work experience as a project economist/project controller within government operations
