Welcome to Lingenäs adapted primary school where education is tailored to each student's individual needs and focus is placed on the students' strengths. We are looking for a special educator with great commitment who wants to contribute to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to develop based on their own conditions. You will work with students who have an intellectual disability, and many of the students also have other disabilities or additional diagnoses.

We strive for a holistic view of the student and challenge both curiosity and increased independence. Within the adapted primary school, the staff density is high and each class has its own work team consisting of special educators, leisure teachers/preschool teachers, and teaching assistants. Leisure activities are offered to all students with care needs, and in the leisure activities, leisure teachers and teaching assistants provide instruction. The school has a close collaboration with guardians, child and youth habilitation, Functional Support, and the Special Educational Schools Authority.

Your role with us

As a special educator, you plan, implement, and follow up on teaching for students with intellectual disabilities. You work with in-depth knowledge of intellectual disabilities with a focus on the individual level. With commitment and enthusiasm, you create a safe and pedagogical learning environment that stimulates, strengthens, and challenges students' development and learning based on mutual respect and cooperation.

The teaching is designed in accordance with the adapted school's curriculum where planning, preparation, implementation, and evaluation are important cornerstones. You use special educational methods and adapt the teaching based on all students' conditions with the student's best interests in focus. You work to eliminate obstacles and difficulties in the learning environment by developing alternative learning environments and teaching tools. In the role, you exercise good situational leadership both inside and outside the classroom.

You contribute with expertise in the work with pedagogical investigations, adaptations, and action programs by conducting and documenting assessments, investigations, and various forms of pedagogical tests. Through dialogue, you create good relationships characterized by mutual respect, trust, and a positive attitude.

In a systematic way, you reflect on and evaluate the practical work individually and together with others. Your tasks also include planning, prioritizing, and taking responsibility for your own time and development. In your role, you keep yourself updated on events in the world, youth culture, current research, and drive development work.

Who are we looking for?

Primarily, we are looking for someone who has a teaching license with qualifications to teach as a special educator in adapted primary school in grades F-3. Secondly, we are looking for someone who has a teaching license with qualifications to teach in primary school, in grades F-3, with an interest in studying the special educator program with a focus on intellectual disabilities.

The assignment requires that you have experience of 3 years of well-documented work with teaching within the school system. Experience of teaching in grades F-6 is meritorious, as is experience of teaching in adapted schools. We would also like you to be swim-literate as teaching swimming skills/water safety may be relevant. It is also desirable that you have a B driver's license for manual transmission to be able to transport students to activities as well as cycling skills.

You are a secure and pedagogical leader with the ability to respond in a low-affect manner. We want you to be well acquainted with and live up to the ethical principles for teachers. You can practice situational learning and leadership based on understanding students' situations and values and meeting them where they are. You create relationships both internally and externally characterized by respect and trust and can engage, inspire, stimulate, and strengthen students towards development and learning.

We want you to have good knowledge of and the ability to work according to current governing documents but also good knowledge regarding alternative teaching tools and the ability to integrate these into teaching. You have the ability to adapt working methods and approaches to different groups and individuals' conditions. Of course, you have the ability to use digital technology as a tool in your daily work.

You are well acquainted with current pedagogical and didactic research. You can systematically reflect on and evaluate the work individually and with others to achieve development. Naturally, you can document with good quality but also have the ability to plan and prioritize your working time.

For us to be able to consider your application, you must attach your degree certificate and teaching license. If there are no qualified licensed teachers, you who are unqualified can be employed temporarily according to the Education Act. When we want to offer you the position, you are required to present an extract from the police record for us to be able to employ you, according to the provisions in Chapter 2, Sections 31-33 of the Education Act.
