PhD Candidate in Healthcare Science
We are now looking for two PhD candidates in healthcare science within the national graduate school Development of Academic Competence in Healthcare Education (DACHE).
You who apply to the graduate school can be a lecturer, hold other teaching assignments within healthcare education, or aim to work within these programs.
Are you one of our new PhD candidates in the graduate school?
Does this sound interesting? Welcome with your application.
Your affiliation will be with the Department of Nursing Education and Integrated Health Sciences, which is part of the Faculty of Health Sciences. The faculty conducts research and education in a wide range of areas. To learn more about the faculty's research, see here (http://www.hkr.se/forskning/).
Job Responsibilities
As a PhD candidate, you will be part of a seminar group with other PhD candidates. In addition to a dissertation project, the doctoral education includes mandatory research courses at Kristianstad University and elective research courses often conducted at other universities. You will also be part of the DACHE Graduate School, where you will study the mandatory research courses within the graduate school and participate in regular meetings at the participating universities. Your responsibilities also include oral and written scientific communication of research results.
The DACHE Graduate School offers a structured research environment aimed at increasing the number of research-trained teachers to enhance the quality of higher education for healthcare professions. PhD candidates within the graduate school will therefore address research on challenges within healthcare education in a complex healthcare system. This implies a broad perspective that can encompass both clinical healthcare science research or issues related to pedagogy and profession.
You will be employed and have your workplace at Kristianstad University and will be admitted to doctoral studies in healthcare science at Kristianstad University. As a PhD candidate, you will participate in the activities of the doctoral education and the current graduate school, but also work independently on your own dissertation project.
A PhD candidate should primarily focus on their own doctoral education. However, a PhD candidate may, to a limited extent, work with education, other research, or artistic research and administration, but not more than 20 percent of full working time (Higher Education Ordinance 5 chap §).
Eligibility and Qualifications
To be eligible for doctoral education, you must meet the requirements for basic and specific eligibility and have the necessary ability to complete the education.
To be admitted to doctoral education, you must have basic eligibility through a completed degree at an advanced level, or completed course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 higher education credits at an advanced level, or in some other way acquired equivalent knowledge (HF, 7 chap. 39§).
To meet the requirement for specific eligibility for admission to doctoral education in healthcare science at Kristianstad University, you must have at least 90 higher education credits with a health science orientation relevant to healthcare science, or in some other way acquired equivalent knowledge (HF 7 chap. 40§).
In addition to general and specific eligibility, an assessment of the applicant's ability to benefit from the education will be of great importance. At Kristianstad University, the following assessment criteria are applied: previous study results, the quality of previous independent work, motivation and expectations for doctoral education, theoretical awareness, ability to benefit from supervision, ability to work independently, as well as linguistic and analytical ability. The research proposal that should be attached to the application is of particular importance. As a PhD candidate, you will then develop the research proposal together with your supervisor within the framework of the graduate school's focus.
Furthermore, you have good computer skills and can communicate well both orally and in writing in Swedish and English. In the role of a PhD candidate, it is important that you have a good ability to communicate and interact with different groups. You collaborate well with others in a responsive and flexible manner. At the same time, you are self-driven, take responsibility for your tasks, and structure your work. You are pedagogical and have a good understanding of how others absorb knowledge. You also need to have linguistic and numerical analytical ability as well as problem-solving analytical skills.
Other
Start date is 2026-09-01 or by agreement. The position is full-time. Regulations for employment as a PhD candidate can be found in the regulation SFS 1993:100, chap 5. The employment concerns doctoral studies leading to a doctorate. As a PhD candidate, you will receive a fixed-term employment that covers four years of full-time studies regulated by HF chap 5, §§ 3 a, 7. The first employment may last for a maximum of one year. The employment may then be renewed for a maximum of two years at a time. The education culminating in a doctorate comprises 240 higher education credits.
