Be the first point of contact for residents needing support and guidance within social services

You will receive a thorough introduction, close support from team leaders and a mentor, as well as the opportunity to shape a new position. Here, you will have a meaningful job where your approach makes a difference every day.

Your Responsibilities

In this project position, you will be part of the city's common entry point for questions and services, with a particular focus on social services. We want it to be even easier for residents to get the right information, guidance, and support when contacting the municipality.

You will be employed at the Contact Center in the city hall, but your physical workplace will be in the Social Services building. Here, you will provide information and guidance on matters related to social services, such as financial assistance and other support measures. For many, you will be one of the first contacts with the city and social services, which requires clarity, structure, and a professional approach.

Your role includes having a good knowledge of social services operations and being able to guide people correctly within the organization. You will work closely with colleagues at the Contact Center and within social services. If necessary, you may also assist at the reception in the Social Services building, but the main focus will be on service and guidance via phone. You will register cases and contribute to developing information and services to make them clear and accessible to residents.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a university or college degree and experience in customer service, where you have worked with many contacts and provided quality service. You have good computer skills, feel comfortable working in various digital systems, and have experience with case management systems.

You enjoy meeting people and adapt your communication to the individual in front of you. Even in challenging conversations, you remain calm, clear, and focused on finding solutions. You take responsibility for your work and enjoy collaborating with colleagues and other parts of the organization to provide the best possible support.

It is an advantage if you have experience in administrative work in a politically governed organization. If you have also worked within social services, in the operational system LifeCare, or have knowledge of the Public Access to Information and Secrecy Act, the Social Services Act, and the Parental Code, we consider this a plus. Training in low-threshold approaches, experience in meeting people in vulnerable situations, and language skills beyond Swedish and English are also advantageous.

We Offer

We offer a meaningful job where you contribute every day to making contact with the municipality clearer and more accessible for the residents of Västerås. You will be part of an engaged team that takes pride in its mission and works together to provide a professional and caring approach.

You will receive a thorough introduction, both in the work at the Contact Center and in the operations of social services. At the Contact Center, there are two team leaders who are close to the daily operational work and provide support in everyday tasks. You will also have a designated mentor who will guide you during your initial period, ensuring you have a good foundation to settle into your role at your own pace.

Since the position is new, you will have the opportunity to help shape working methods and contribute your perspectives. Here, the security of a stable organization combines with the chance to develop a role that makes a real difference for those we serve. The position is part of the city's efforts to meet the intentions of the new Social Services Act, where accessibility and communication are key components.

Here, you will be part of something bigger! With warmth and respect, we demonstrate action in both large and small matters. We live our values in our interactions with each other and those we serve. Every day, all year round, we ensure that Västerås functions. Together with your approximately 11,500 colleagues throughout the city, you will have Sweden's most important job.
