Are you our new Technical Writer or Technical Communicator in Västerås?
Regardless of what you call yourself - the most important thing is that you are a person with a solid technical interest and a strong technical understanding.
Your future role
The role involves gathering technical information and delivering technical documentation for maintenance and operation manuals. You will also review and ensure correct content before delivery.
You will be part of a diverse team with a variety of skills and backgrounds.
We value technical knowledge and a broad overall understanding of the components and systems of vehicles.
You will report to the Documentation Manager.
What will you do?
- Write and update documents.
- Produce technical documentation in XML, such as technical descriptions, maintenance instructions, troubleshooting instructions, operator manuals, etc.
- Review, update, and translate technical documentation.
- Create and update illustrations.
- Collaborate, communicate, and manage follow-ups with stakeholders; coordinators, trainers, systems engineers, etc.
- Participate in both internal meetings and customer meetings to ensure that requirements, feedback, and related reporting are met.
- Participate in workshops and visit vehicle depots to verify information on-site.
About you

To succeed in the role:
We value passion and attitude over experience. That is why we do not expect you to have all the skills. Instead, we have listed some that we believe will help you succeed and grow in this role:
- Relevant education in technical documentation, information design, engineering, or a related field. Alternatively, equivalent work experience assessed as comparable, e.g., maintenance technician.
- Experience from technical work in the automation industry, aviation, rail, or similar.
- Fluently communicate in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
Preferred:
- Practical experience in maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of railway vehicles.
- Experience with XML, content management systems (CMS), and scripting.
- Experience with product development databases (PDM systems) and spare parts management.
