Treatment Assistant at SiS Youth Home Gudhemsgården
The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) is an authority responsible for individually adapted compulsory care for youth and adults with substance abuse issues. SiS also implements closed youth care. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse across the country. At SiS, your work life becomes an exciting challenge. No matter where you work in our organization or what position you hold, you help create life-changing transformations.
SiS Youth Home Gudhemsgården receives non-compulsory school boys with psychosocial issues, criminality, and substance abuse. SiS Youth Home Gudhemsgården has just undergone an organizational change, from LVM care to LVU care, and is now in an exciting phase of development. Currently, the institution consists of four departments but will expand to five departments with a total of 33 places in the coming year.
Job Description
Do you want to help create life-changing transformations for vulnerable people? Then the job as a treatment assistant at SiS is a meaningful challenge. You will work in a team with trained treatment pedagogues, an operational leader, and the night unit manager. Together, you are responsible for ensuring that the youth residing with us receive the safety, care, and treatment they need. Documentation is an important part of your work and contributes to legal security, planning, and follow-up of our operations. You contribute to maintaining safety according to our routines and participate in working towards a continually better SiS.
We are now looking for new night staff, as we have the opportunity to expand our team.
Our operations run 24/7 (around the clock every day of the week), and you, as a night worker, will be responsible for the well-being and safety of the youths, focusing on promoting their sleep routines and being available for them as needed. Nighttime is often the most challenging time of the day for many, and sleep problems are very common among our youths, making a safe adult who can offer support in the form of conversation or other means a crucial piece of the puzzle. The work can vary greatly in intensity from very calm nights to nights that demand much from you as a treatment assistant.
You will always work awake nights with us on shifts scheduled approximately between 21:00-08:45, varying slightly depending on weekdays or weekends. You will work according to a rolling schedule in a team with several other treatment assistants and pedagogues.
This is a job for you who see a positive challenge in working with vulnerable people in difficult life situations. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied.
Your work may also include mentoring new staff and being the alarm leader during the night.
As a new staff member, you will undergo SiS basic training for 10 weeks. The training combines theory with a guided introduction and prepares you for the treatment role in SiS operations.
Qualifications
Your personal suitability is key to life-changing transformation. Therefore, you need to have a good ability to create engagement and participation. Equally important is having a solid positive view of humanity, great empathetic ability, and the ability to build good relationships while being clear that rules must be followed. You have good communication skills and can remain calm even in pressured situations. You also have the ability to collaborate with others and are eager to share your knowledge with colleagues.
You should also have:
- A minimum of a 2-year post-secondary education from a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) or other education equivalent to this. The education should be focused on social work, social pedagogy, behavioral science, or another relevant field.
- A valid driver’s license (B)
- Good Swedish language skills, both spoken and written
Below are examples of desirable qualifications that can be used in recruitment (select what fits your specific recruitment process)
- Experience working with our target group (e.g., substance abuse care, youth care, youth psychiatry, etc.)
At SiS, we care about good employee engagement. This means that you as an employee take responsibility for your work, contribute to development, and participate in good cooperation. Read more about our employee engagement.
*Exceptions to the requirement for a minimum of two years of post-secondary education may be made in individual cases if there are special reasons according to Chapter 5, Section 4 of the Social Services Ordinance (2025:468).
Employment:
The position is a permanent full-time employment starting with a six-month probationary period. Start date by agreement.
SiS actively works against all forms of discrimination and welcomes all applicants.
For work at our institutions, SiS conducts background checks before employment.
