Description

Älvegårdsskolan AGR is a small 1-9 school and we are starting with two classes this autumn.

We are now looking for a special education teacher with a focus on intellectual disabilities who wants to help shape our new adapted primary school.

The school is located between the sea and the forest in Torslanda, surrounded by beautiful natural areas. Älvegårdsskolan AGR belongs to the Hisingen 12 school area, which also includes Lillebyskolan. Lillebyskolan and Älvegårdsskolan are located close to each other. The leadership team in the school area consists of a principal and two assistant principals. Around our students, there is a large staff group – teachers and student assistants. There is a student health team with a school nurse, psychologist, counselor, and special educator.

When the school is fully established in a few years, it will consist of 5 classes for students with intellectual disabilities.

Responsibilities

As a special education teacher, you are responsible for designing and adapting the teaching to meet the students' specific needs. The teaching often starts from a concrete experience such as an excursion, assignment, or study visit. In teaching, we base our work on clear pedagogy and a low-arousal approach. We work to develop students' communication both for learning and to have the best life possible. You will also work to provide guidance in pedagogical matters to the work team as well as consultation and support to guardians. Conducting pedagogical assessments and supporting management in development issues is an important part of the role.

Qualifications

Formal qualifications: We are looking for someone who is a certified teacher and further trained as a special education teacher with a focus on intellectual disabilities for teaching in adapted primary school. It is an advantage if you have experience working in adapted primary schools, and we would like you to have expertise in TAKK and/or AKK (alternative and augmentative communication), as well as a low-arousal approach.

You have a conscious and professional approach that creates safety, trust, and good relationships, both with children, guardians, and colleagues. You are pedagogically skilled and have an easy time communicating. As a person, you are stable and secure, while also being flexible and enjoying finding solutions in challenging situations.
