Educational Supervisor at the Swedish Prison and Probation Service

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand facilities, and client transports.

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service will conduct education in the upcoming children's and youth departments; primary school, upper secondary school, adapted primary school, and adapted upper secondary school. The environment is designed to meet the special needs of this target group within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service. The operations are part of the nationally coordinated educational activities that also include education equivalent to adult education (Komvux). The aim is to provide each student with an equal and quality education.

Education for children and young people is primarily conducted through close instruction, in a safe and structured environment. The education is integrated with other interventions within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service to support the development and future opportunities of children and young people.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Children and young people in prison should be offered education that corresponds to primary school, upper secondary school, adapted primary school, and adapted upper secondary school. As an educational supervisor at the Learning Center, you will play an important role in this mission. You will contribute to creating a safe, structured, and meaningful school experience for students in vulnerable situations, and you will work alongside teachers at the prison and in a nationally coordinated educational operation focused on equality and continuity.

You will be placed at the Sagsjön prison. All work takes place at the prison.

QUALIFICATIONS

In your role as an educational supervisor, you are a skilled educator with the desire and ability to motivate, inspire, and lead students to achieve their goals. You are clear and engaged in your work and have a good ability to create structure and systematic approaches. The work is conducted both independently and in close collaboration with colleagues, which is why good teamwork and initiative skills are important traits, as well as the ability to work independently.

It is important to us that you share the fundamental values of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service regarding a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and belief in the human capacity and willingness to develop. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute to ensuring that everyone is treated equally through your approach. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

We are looking for someone who has:

• High school diploma
• Experience working in educational activities in middle school and/or upper secondary school.
• Ability to express oneself well in spoken and written Swedish
• Good computer skills and experience working with digital support systems

It is an advantage if you have:

• Educational training with a focus on school
