Postdoctoral Researcher in Migration and Health

The position is placed within the research platform Borders in Health, Medicine, and Society, an international and interdisciplinary research environment with researchers in migration, global health, medicine, social sciences, humanities, and arts. Within the research group, we conduct research on migration and health, structural racism and vulnerability, as well as interactions between migration, clinical practice, institutions, law, and society.
We are now looking for a recent graduate (or a medical student in the final term of their program) who can assist in two of the research group's ongoing projects: The Boundaries Longitudinal Study: Doctors' attitudes regarding reporting undocumented patients seeking care, funded by the Swedish Research Council; and CLARITY: Co-designing a health literacy tool for migrants to strengthen primary care and community support networks funded by the European Commission and FORTE.
Responsibilities
As a postdoctoral researcher, you will work within the interdisciplinary research group from your perspective as a recent graduate/future doctor, under the supervision of researchers, including some independent work with the recruitment of doctors and medical students, as well as conducting surveys, ethnographic fieldwork, and qualitative interviews, analyzing qualitative data, and co-authoring research articles.
Qualifications
The position requires a completed medical degree (in Sweden or abroad). Those in the final term of their medical program are also eligible. The applicant must also have good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
Desirable qualifications include:
- Experience in research on migration and health.
- Experience in clinical practice as a doctor/medical student abroad.
- Experience in conducting ethnographic fieldwork in medical and/or migration-related contexts.
- Experience in conducting qualitative analyses and writing results.
- Experience working in interdisciplinary research environments.
- Knowledge of Arabic, Dari, and/or Farsi.

Employment
Employment type: Fixed-term intermittent employment, 11 months.
Extent: 0-20%.
Placement: Department of Medicine, Gothenburg.
Start date: as soon as possible or by agreement.
