RESPONSIBILITIES

As an intern at SKR's office in Brussels, your task is to seek and forward information within the policy areas relevant to the association's members, including newsletters and the Commission's open consultations. You will also assist in establishing visit programs for member groups coming to Brussels, for example, by contacting EU institutions, sister organizations, and booking meeting rooms.

After some training, you are also expected to receive visitor groups and inform them about the activities of the Brussels office. Another important task is to monitor meetings and conferences and report back from these. You are expected to assist with various simpler practical everyday tasks at the office. You will also support the coordination of materials for the Swedish delegation in the Committee of the Regions, an advisory body to the EU institutions consisting of elected representatives from municipalities and regions within the EU.

The EU and International Section is responsible for coordinating the association's EU work and advocacy in overarching international issues. We provide support and services to internationally active politicians and officials within municipalities and regions in the form of informational materials, seminars, and workshops.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has completed or is about to complete an academic degree in social sciences, preferably with a focus on the EU. If you have a particular interest in municipalities and regions, this is a plus.

Very good knowledge of English is a prerequisite, and good knowledge of French is an advantage. We place great importance on social competence and the ability for written and oral communication.

Sveriges Kommuner och Regioner (SKR) is a member and employer organization for Sweden's municipalities and regions. SKR has about 500 employees, and the office is located at Slussen in Stockholm. As an employee at SKR, you have the flexibility to work partially in the office and partially from another location, based on the needs of the organization. The office in Brussels is located at Square de Meeûs.
