Administrator at the Public Health Agency of Sweden

The Public Health Agency of Sweden is a national knowledge authority working for better public health. Would you like to help develop the agency's work in the area of suicide prevention? The Public Health Agency has been tasked with establishing a national investigation function that will conduct investigations into individual cases of suicide. We are therefore looking for a qualified administrator who will assist in the establishment of this new function and provide administrative support in the work with suicide investigations.

What will you work with?

In collaboration with colleagues at the newly established Unit for Suicide Investigations, you will assist in investigations and analyses following individual suicides, focusing on gathering and registering data from other activities and organizations.

The work will include:

  • Responsible for collecting and systematizing data from external actors such as healthcare, social services, and schools.
  • Daily mail handling, including opening and scanning incoming documents as well as registering documents and cases in the case management system.
  • Contributing to the documentation of suicide investigations.
  • Contributing to the follow-up of investigations and systematizing results in aggregated form.
  • Coordinating administrative matters with internal and external contact points.
  • Responsible for documentation and minutes at internal and external meetings.
  • Participating in the development of the unit's administration, routines, and processes.
  • Answering incoming calls, forwarding messages, and providing information about the activities as needed.

The work also includes assisting the unit manager in the ongoing work of the unit, such as managing calendar bookings, meeting arrangements, travel planning, and simpler orders.

Who are we looking for?

Requirements for the position:

  • Relevant high school education with approved results and vocational training as a healthcare administrator or other vocational qualification deemed equivalent by the agency.
  • At least five years of experience in independent qualified administrative work within public administration or as a healthcare administrator in healthcare.
  • Current and several years of experience in handling documents with high confidentiality.
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish and good knowledge of English, both spoken and written.

  • Experience in gathering information and data from various activities and organizations such as regions, municipalities, and other authorities.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Swedish healthcare and social services system, including documentation in healthcare and social services.
  • Several years of experience working in digital case management systems and good knowledge of the Office suite.
  • Personal qualities such as good collaboration skills (used to collaborating with different competencies and professional groups), responsibility, attention to detail, and service-oriented. You have a holistic perspective and a good demeanor.

Great emphasis is placed on:

  • Experience in taking various forms of meeting minutes and compiling information.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.

  • Experience in supporting processes related to operational planning and development.

What does the unit do?

The Unit for Suicide Investigations is responsible for a task to build a national investigation function that can conduct investigations into deaths by suicide. The purpose is to improve society's ability to learn what has failed in the safety net when someone takes their life. The operations will be conducted according to new legislation proposed to come into force on July 1, 2026. Until then, the unit will be built up with various competencies to be able to conduct death investigations and analyze and disseminate lessons learned.

About the employment

You will be employed as an administrator based at our office in Solna. The position is a permanent full-time position that begins with a six-month probationary period. Start date will be as soon as possible by agreement.

As an employee of the Public Health Agency, you may be subject to military placement. Certain positions are classified where Swedish citizenship may be a requirement. A security review will then be conducted in accordance with the Security Protection Act (2018:585).

At the agency, there may be an opportunity to enter into an agreement for remote work of up to 40 percent of your working hours.
