Agile Coach at the Swedish Food Agency

Do you want to contribute to turning a socially important mission into concrete results through well-functioning, agile teams?

At the Swedish Food Agency, we operate in a complex reality with legal requirements, political decisions, many stakeholders, and high demands for quality and transparency. We are now looking for three agile coaches who want to help strengthen our ability to navigate this landscape – by developing both the teams' working methods and the organization's agile maturity.

Your Role

In this role, you will be a practical and present support to the teams in their daily work. You will help them create a structure that works in practice, gain flow in deliveries, and focus on what provides the most benefit. At the same time, you contribute with a holistic perspective and see how working methods and collaboration can develop over time. Here, you will have the opportunity to influence how we work with continuous improvement in an organization where social benefit is at the center.

The role involves, among other things:

  • facilitating daily standups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and demos
  • coaching teams and individuals in agile principles, self-organization, and accountability
  • identifying and removing obstacles that affect the teams' delivery capacity
  • supporting Product Owners in backlog structure, prioritization, and value creation
  • assisting teams in breaking down goals into actionable activities and ensuring that the work leads to concrete delivery
  • driving continuous improvement within and between teams
  • contributing to developing a culture characterized by collaboration, transparency, and learning
  • acting as a link between development teams and other parts of the organization
  • monitoring methods and trends in agile development and coaching

Together with your colleagues, you will be responsible for ensuring that the organization's mission and priorities are reflected in daily work. You will weigh the needs of target groups, governing frameworks, and available resources against each other and help the organization make wise trade-offs. By contributing new perspectives and current knowledge, you strengthen our ability to translate direction into concrete and sustainable delivery.

The Unit for Digitalization and IT

At the Unit for Digitalization and IT, we work with business development and digitalization by leading, developing, and managing the Swedish Food Agency's IT systems and ensuring operations and support.

We are in a development phase where we strengthen our common structure and collaboration between teams. As an agile coach, you will be an important part of this work and collaborate closely with development teams, product owners, architects, and managers.

Together, we create sustainable and robust solutions that support the Swedish Food Agency's mission and contribute to an efficient and quality-assured operation.

Your Competence

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A degree in IT, organization, or equivalent
  • Certification as a Scrum Master (CSM, PSM, or equivalent)
  • Experience as a Scrum Master (at least 3 years)
  • Experience coaching multiple teams simultaneously
  • Experience working in a software development environment
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish

You have knowledge of:

  • Scrum and agile principles
  • Kanban and Lean principles
  • Facilitation techniques and workshop leadership
  • Tools like Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar

It is also meritorious if you have:

  • Certification as an Agile Coach (ICP-ACC, ICF, or equivalent)
  • SAFe certification (SA, SP, SSM, or similar)
  • Experience with agile transformation or organizational change
  • Experience working in the public sector
  • Understanding of SAFe or other scaled agile methodologies
  • Knowledge of English

Your Personal Qualities

To succeed in this role, you have a strong ability to work with people and create trusting collaborations. You communicate clearly and pedagogically, adapt your message according to the audience and context, and feel comfortable presenting, facilitating, and leading dialogues. You also have a natural ability to influence and engage others – and to get people on board with change.

You are curious and want to understand both the needs of the organization and the contexts we operate in. You build relationships and networks that create consensus and progress, and you are happy to share knowledge and lessons learned.

When conditions change, you are flexible and find ways forward. You handle demands and setbacks constructively and contribute calm, structure, and direction even in complex situations.
