Job Responsibilities

KTH is now looking for an engaged economist for the finance department. The position will be placed in the finance group that works to support the School of Engineering Sciences (SCI). The role of the economist plays an important part in supporting the school's institutions and its departments in managing grant-funded projects.

As an economist with us, you will be responsible for the financial administration of research projects and support researchers/project leaders throughout the project cycle, from application to completed projects with a focus on financial administrative tasks. The work is carried out in close collaboration with the school's researchers/project leaders. The economist also supports one or more department heads in matters concerning financial management. The work includes tasks such as:

• Advising and supporting in budgeting prior to applications
• Project budgeting after approved applications
• Year-end closing and follow-up of revenues and costs within grant projects
• Financial reporting to funders
• Communication with funders and possibly participating partners to ensure compliance with financial and administrative requirements
• Working with budget and forecasts for one or more departments
• Other tasks may also occur

Qualifications

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in economics or work experience that the employer deems equivalent
• Experience working with accounting and follow-up
• Communicative ability and the ability to explain economic concepts in an understandable way
• Good knowledge of Swedish and English in speech and writing – both languages are required in daily work as we operate in an international environment
• Good knowledge of the Office suite
• Experience of similar tasks within KTH or another higher education institution
• Experience working in business systems (e.g., Agresso, SAP, or similar)

Meritorious

• Experience working independently with accounting, year-end closing, and reporting of grant-funded projects
• Experience working with budgets and forecasts and supporting a management function in financial matters
• Experience working in Agresso
