Special Education Teacher for Adapted Primary School

Are you creative and good at finding solutions that contribute to students' development? We are looking for a special education teacher for an adapted primary school – and also for those of you who are teachers in preschool or primary school and are studying or want to study to become a special education teacher with a focus on intellectual disabilities.

As a teacher in an adapted primary school, you conduct creative teaching and find strategies to reach each student and strengthen them in both knowledge development and personal growth.

Your role includes:

  • planning, implementing, and evaluating the educational work
  • closely collaborating with other school staff to create a good learning and working environment for both students and staff
  • contributing to making the educational activities both inspiring and challenging
  • building good relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues

You will teach subjects and subject areas within the adapted primary school. All students in the class follow the adapted primary school's curriculum, either through subjects, subject areas, or a combination of these.

The students require extraordinary support and teaching characterized by specially designed pedagogy, low-affect responses, and social training.

It is advantageous if you have experience with:

  • diagnoses, syndromes, and assistive devices
  • tube feeding, toilet visits, feeding
  • handling assistive devices such as ceiling lifts and height-adjustable beds
  • wheelchairs, power wheelchairs, standing frames, and orthoses
  • communication tools, both analog and digital, that you use as a natural part of your teaching

You will be part of a team with educators and student assistants. You are the responsible educator in your class and have access to a special educator for the adapted primary school. The scope is 80–100 percent, based on what we agree upon.

Qualifications

  • You have a degree as a special education teacher with a focus on intellectual disabilities, or you are a teacher in primary school or preschool.
  • Experience working in an adapted primary school is an advantage.
  • We value personal suitability.
