Job Responsibilities

In August 2025, Hyllie Youth Center opened, and we are now expanding with three youth leaders who want to help develop and shape the activities together with young people and colleagues. The youth center targets young people from grade 6 to the last year of high school and aims to be a safe, inclusive, and inspiring meeting place where young people feel welcome.

As a youth leader, you will plan and implement leisure activities focusing on open activities, group activities, and outreach work. You will work to create a meaningful leisure time for young people and have a coaching approach where you support youth ideas and projects and guide them towards an active and developing leisure time. Together with your colleagues, you will collaborate with local actors to broaden the activities and create an attractive youth center. You are also expected to initiate and drive projects in collaboration with the target group and participate in collaborations with other youth centers, associations, and municipal activities.

Within the youth center unit, you will collaborate with other meeting places at various events and during school breaks. Collaboration with various actors, both municipal activities and civil society, is an important part of the assignment.

Your schedule includes regular daytime, evening, and weekend shifts.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a youth leader degree from a folk high school or other relevant post-secondary education combined with experience working with our target group. Other relevant post-secondary education may include: pedagogy, social work, criminology, social sciences, leisure pedagogy, social work, social pedagogy, teaching, sociology, gender studies, sports science, international relations, or human rights.
• Has good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.

It is meritorious if you:

• Have experience in driving projects or developing leisure activities.
• Have knowledge of norm criticism, gender equality, and youth participation.
• Have experience in outreach youth work.
• Have worked with or been engaged in associations.
• Have experience and can lead groups in dance, theater, or music.

You enjoy creating structure and organizing your work, both independently and together with others. You are development-driven and show a genuine commitment to both the activities and the young people.

About the Workplace

Workplace - Youth Center Unit

Hyllie Youth Center is a new activity in constant development, located in a growing area with many schools and young people. The youth center plays an important role in contributing to a socially sustainable area for children and young people. The activities are flexible and develop in close dialogue with young people based on their perspectives and ideas. Here, warmth, community, respect, and trust are valued, creating a safe foundation for both young and adults.

The youth center works norm-critically based on an open and inclusive value base, with the goal that everyone who steps in should feel seen, listened to, and welcomed just as they are. The workgroup currently consists of three youth leaders who work closely together in a supportive climate, sharing experiences, learning from each other, and shaping the activities together.

Hyllie Youth Center is a vibrant meeting place that attracts young people from all over Malmö. Here, visitors are given space to take place at their own pace, build relationships, express opinions, and influence the content of the activities. The youth leaders are close, attentive, and engaged with a clear focus on creating safety, context, and meaningful leisure time.
