The Role of a Personal Assistant

As a personal assistant, you represent Hela Sveriges Assistans. In this role, you will complete an online training course on what it is like to work as a personal assistant. You will work together with the client and your colleagues to ensure good quality and adhere to the company's values and policies.

As a personal assistant, you are responsible for accessing information sent out by the head office and, if necessary, searching for information available on the website. For other questions, you should contact your supervisor or the head office. About Your Role as a Personal Assistant with Me

I Am Looking for More Personal Assistants

I am a gay man, 57 years old, living in Malmö. I have worked in healthcare and the employment service. I have a neuromuscular disease and need help with most daily activities, except communication. I am always connected to a ventilator and have a tracheostomy.

All transfers are done with a lift, from morning routines to transfers between wheelchairs.

The job consists of helping me with various tasks to facilitate my daily life. You will assist with personal hygiene, dressing, feeding, and tracheostomy care. You and I will take care of the home together.

Outside the home, I mainly meet friends and family, shop, go to the theater, and attend MFF matches. We take walks when the weather permits. I enjoy reading books, am interested in society, and have a humanistic view of life and society.

My requirement is that you have a driver's license. It is advantageous if you are quick to learn work methods and routines, are flexible, and can blend in with me in my home. There are physically demanding tasks, but the more routines you learn, the less the burden becomes.

I have assistants with me around the clock; currently, I have 7 assistants aged 20-40, both male and female. You will work both single and double shifts. For me, caregiving experience is not a must, but you should have an interest in the job as an assistant. There are currently hourly positions available, and you will be scheduled 24/7. This is a perfect job for students, retirees, or anyone looking to supplement another job, aged 20 and up. You will shadow until you and I feel it works; training regarding tracheostomy will take place with me. I utilize HSA, Hela Sveriges Assistans, as the assistance provider and act as the supervisor for those working with me.

Job Description

1 position on a schedule of approximately 80-100%

This position is on a rolling schedule, meaning you will work day/evening, weekends, and waking nights. The position will be available in July.

We are also looking for hourly employees as needed and summer substitutes.

We are currently seeking new substitutes who are willing to step in as needed and who can also work during the summer.

Working hours are scheduled during the day/evening, night, and weekends. When working nights, it will be waking nights.

Before we offer employment, you must provide an unopened extract/digital mailbox from the police's criminal record. We also require a valid Swedish work permit, such as a passport or approved work permit from the Migration Agency.

We train our employees to ensure the quality of personal assistance. All our new hires undergo an online introductory training for personal assistants before their first work shift, or no later than one month after starting employment.
