About the Department

Neuropsychiatry is one of five adult psychiatric areas within Sahlgrenska University Hospital. We provide specialized psychiatric care focused on memory-related diseases, neuropsychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, psychiatry for the deaf and hard of hearing, psychiatry for patients with eating disorders, psychiatry for patients with intellectual disabilities, and patients with Huntington's disease.

What do we offer?

We are now looking for a specialist physician for our mobile team and geriatric psychiatric inpatient care. Here, you will have the opportunity to visit patients in their home environment, conduct medical assessments, and help provide our elderly psychiatric patients with the best possible care alongside competent colleagues.

With us, you will experience a unique breadth in both psychiatry and somatics, as you will meet individuals with everything from cognitive degenerative diseases, affective disorders to acute psychoses. Additionally, the elderly often have other internal medical conditions to consider, making the work comprehensive and educational.

The mission of the mobile team is continuously expanding and is physically located at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, alongside our inpatient care. Your role as a physician is particularly important, and you will work alongside existing specialists in the team and on the ward, taking a leading role in the work ahead. We are a small organization with short decision-making paths and the opportunity for strong support from an engaged staff, managers, and colleagues. Our inpatient care at Sahlgrenska University Hospital works with patients who are primarily over 70 years old and often have complex psychiatric issues with elements of somatics and geriatrics. The complexity is a motivator, and we are looking for someone who, like us, wants to find the right mix of innovative thinking and proven methodology for the way forward for our patients.

We are proud of our proximity to research, and there are good opportunities to conduct research as part of the position. There are also conditions for good professional development, and we offer the possibility to further specialize in geriatric psychiatry.

You are a licensed physician and a specialist in psychiatry. You have an interest and commitment to our patient groups, are flexible, and have the ability to see and prioritize the needs of patients and the organization. You appreciate working in an environment of continuous development and in a team with various professional competencies. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

In case of recruitment of physicians with foreign licenses/specialist certificates, the position will be preceded by a process to meet the requirements for Swedish licenses/specialist certificates.
