Every year, the Swedish Social Insurance Agency makes 21 million decisions that affect people's lives and society as a whole. We disburse approximately 260 billion kronor each year. These are everyone's tax money that we manage. It is a great responsibility. Therefore, we think innovatively and use the latest technology to simplify and improve, develop and deliver IT services for the Swedish social insurance system. Welcome to one of Sweden's largest IT departments.

The IT development units in Luleå and Kalix are in an exciting phase of development where the Swedish Social Insurance Agency continues to be at the forefront in terms of methods, tools, and working methods. Here, several delivery areas collaborate to develop and manage socially important IT solutions, including labor market support, pensions, as well as external information exchange and data management.

At our offices in Luleå and Kalix, over 100 employees work, the majority of whom are system developers. You will work with complex systems in close collaboration with experienced colleagues in agile teams, where modern system development is combined with stable and well-thought-out working methods. Here, technical responsibility, quality, and security are central, and as a developer, you have the opportunity to influence solutions that are used by large parts of society daily.

Development, Java, DevOps, and Agile Teams

We are looking for someone with experience in Java and who thrives in a working method where DevOps and infrastructure are a natural part of development.

As a system developer with us, you will be an important part of a team-based context where collaboration, shared responsibility, and technical quality are at the center. You will work closely with other developers, architects, and business-related roles to solve complex problems and build solutions that last over time.

In this role, you will be involved in the entire DevOps cycle. This means that you do not stop at implementation but are involved from early analysis and design to deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement of our applications. You will take responsibility for ensuring that what we build also works stably and securely in production.

You have the ability to look at the bigger picture, see the whole system landscape, and understand how different components interact from needs, code, and infrastructure to operation and real-world usage. Here, you are expected to contribute both technical expertise and an analytical approach that strengthens the whole, not just the individual solution. We value a technically curious approach where automation, efficiency, and collaboration between development and operations are obvious tools for creating sustainable and future-proof solutions.

The position involves handling confidential information, which places high demands on proper management. Therefore, it is important that you, who will work with us, have a high security awareness.

This is a job for you who want to take responsibility.

We are looking for someone who

  • has a university degree or equivalent experience and qualifications
  • has experience in system development in Java or equivalent
  • acts on their own initiative and takes responsibility for achieving good results
  • collaborates effectively with others to achieve common goals
  • has a systematic and careful working method
  • can understand and analyze complex issues
  • has good communication skills, both orally and in writing
  • has good knowledge of Swedish, both orally and in writing.

It is an advantage if you have

  • experience of agile team-based working methods
  • experience or good understanding of DevOps practices and tools
  • experience or knowledge of container technology
  • experience or knowledge of GitOps.

We place great importance on your personal qualities.
