Job Responsibilities

As a care educator, you have, together with the section managers, an overall responsibility for the educational work in the entire unit. You work closely with the unit's other care educator and the seven section managers. Your assignment is based on the unit's quality work and takes place at the unit, section, and user levels. Your areas of responsibility include quality, user focus, and collaboration.

The role of care educator in our unit means that you:

• have an overarching strategic plan for the pedagogical quality development in the unit.
• provide educational and everyday guidance to personal assistants in their work with users based on LSS, SoL, and HSL.
• offer support and knowledge on how social documentation and implementation plans maintain good quality while users feel they have influence over their lives.
• lead the educational work in consultation with unit and section managers. This means you should initiate, drive, develop, and coordinate this work. You need to actively participate in change efforts and work solution-focused for the benefit of users.
• implement, follow up, and evaluate methods that have been decided for the operation to use.
• support in environmental monitoring, seek knowledge, and keep the operation updated on methods. You create conditions for applying evidence-based practice and using a systematic approach related to user-centered work.
• support in quality development work based on the quality management system.
• have in-depth knowledge of the various societal actors that can provide support to people with disabilities and establish contact with them.
• collaborate with the various actors and networks that are important based on individual needs.
• lead specific operational meetings and network groups for personal assistants.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a university or college degree (at least a bachelor's degree, 180 credits) in the behavioral sciences, educational orientation, or other education that the employer deems relevant.

You have at least one year of experience working in LSS operations and experience with users with complex support needs. Furthermore, it is advantageous if you have work experience with challenging behavior, clarifying pedagogy, and experience mentoring individuals in the disability field.

The role of care educator requires the ability to work both in a team and independently and to take initiative. You are expected to have a holistic view, a problem-solving analytical ability, and to express yourself well in both speech and writing. Experience leading educational work is an advantage. You need to be able to listen to specific needs within the operation and be innovative – flexible – and driving to create a high-quality operation.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Personal assistance is for people who have significant, lasting, and extensive support needs. This means receiving help with basic needs; personal hygiene, dressing and undressing, eating, and communicating with others. It may also involve receiving support during leisure activities, during DV/work hours, etc., to achieve a full life.

The user's residence is our employees' workplace – and there are often relatives present as well. In some interventions, only relatives are employed. The interventions often involve solitary work for the staff, making learning from colleagues less common. Users can belong to all target groups – and they can be adults or children.

In the disability support administration, over 3000 employees work together to create and develop even better support and services for people with disabilities. Our operations include LSS, social psychiatry, personal assistance, escorts, and relief services, as well as health and medical care. Severely ill children receiving care at home are also part of our mission.
