Joint Management Administration

The Joint Management Administration consists of the areas of Democracy & Service, Economy & Procurement, Working Life & Digital Technology, Strategic Urban Planning, Emergency Services & Safety, as well as the staff.

The Joint Management Administration has the task of leading, supporting, and coordinating the entire municipal organization on behalf of the municipal council. This is done by focusing on the needs of the customer and having a holistic view and common working methods. We are a learning organization that promotes innovation and learning from both the outside world and each other.

Strategic Urban Planning

The area of Strategic Urban Planning has the mission to create the best conditions for growth and attractiveness together with residents, businesses, public actors, and associations, where safety, integration, and sustainability are important cornerstones. The operations consist of three units: detailed planning, land and exploitation, and strategy and development.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are now looking for an urban planner who wants to participate in the municipality's planning work. You will be offered a qualified and developing job with great personal responsibility, where you both drive complex planning processes and contribute to the municipality's long-term community development.

In the role, you will work strategically and operationally with detailed planning and be responsible for leading your planning assignments through the entire process from early stages and the development of programs and investigations to approval. You are expected to independently make assessments, coordinate different interests, and ensure high quality in the planning documents.

The work is conducted in cross-professional and inter-departmental project groups where you have a coordinating and sometimes leading role. You will collaborate closely with colleagues, politicians, developers, and other external actors and contribute your experience to drive the planning processes forward in an efficient and solution-oriented manner. The role requires a good ability to see both the whole and the details, as well as to handle complex issues where different interests must be weighed together in a long-term sustainable way.

As an urban planner in Motala municipality, you will belong to the planning unit within the area of strategic urban planning. Currently, there are 6 urban planners and 1 planning technician in the planning unit. As one of us has taken on new tasks within the organization, we are now looking for a new colleague.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with relevant academic education as an architect, urban planner, landscape architect, community planner, or other academic education deemed suitable by the employer.

We are primarily looking for an urban planner with a few years of experience in detailed planning. You have good knowledge of urban planning and the Planning and Building Act.

Experience with GIS-based drawing tools is an advantage, and we would like you to enjoy driving the development of work based on that. Competence in CAD-based visualization tools is also positive. Furthermore, we see it as a plus if you have experience in the early stages of the detailed planning process and good knowledge of the various parts of the community building process.

As a person, you are structured, drive your processes in a results-oriented manner, and are self-driven but collaborative. We are also looking for someone who is creative and can think in new perspectives. Given that you, as an urban planner, have contact with many different actors, you should be communicative and have the ability to create good relationships. You have good communication skills and can express yourself clearly, simply, and effectively in both speech and writing in Swedish.
