Engineer in Flight Testing at Saab
We believe that progress and opportunities are best created together. Welcome to a place where collaboration makes a difference.
Your Role
Saab is now looking for a motivated engineer with a background in computer science, physics, mathematics, or aerospace/engineering disciplines to join our Flight Test organization for Special Mission and Regional Aircraft.
In this role, you will be part of our Flight Test section and work on the testing of our aircraft designed by our organization, including GlobalEye, Saab 340, and Saab 2000.
You will primarily work with flight test data to support the development, evaluation, and certification of aircraft performance, flight characteristics, and basic aircraft systems.
The position combines practical data processing with advanced development of analytical methods. Examples of areas include:
- Processing, validating, and analyzing large amounts of flight test data,
- Developing and improving methods for evaluating aircraft performance (e.g., climb performance, cruise, takeoff and landing performance), flight characteristics (e.g., stability and control as well as dynamic response), and basic aircraft systems (e.g., cooling, electrical, engines).
- Developing and maintaining tools and scripts for data reduction and reporting.
- Contributing to technical documentation and analysis reports for internal use and certification.
You will be part of a small team of dedicated flight test engineers and test pilots working with real flight test data in advanced programs.
Our position is located in Linköping, but travel may occur.
Your Profile
We value your personal drive and ambition to contribute to building a functioning group that can continue to deliver test results aimed at developing our Special Mission aircraft and managing upgrades of Saab's regional aircraft fleet. It is important to note that the role requires flexibility and good adaptability, and perhaps most importantly, that you value working in a team where the collective result is very central.
The work is independent and requires both knowledge and initiative as well as the ability to collaborate closely with test engineers, measurement engineers, test pilots, and design engineers.
We are looking for someone who has:
- A degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, computer science, or a related technical field.
- The ability to focus in a dynamic work environment with daily handling of aircraft data.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Knowledge/interest in aircraft instrumentation.
- Good experience with programming and data analysis tools such as MATLAB (recommended), Python, as well as data visualization and signal processing techniques.
- General knowledge of flight test methods and aircraft aerodynamics.
- Good language skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
A genuine interest in aviation may seem obvious but is also an asset.
Please note that this is an ongoing recruitment process, and the position may be filled before the application deadline. Therefore, submit your application as soon as possible to not miss this opportunity!
The position requires you to undergo and be approved according to the applicable security protection regulations. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may entail requirements for certain citizenship.
