Do you want to contribute to saving lives and creating safety in the community? We are now looking for on-call rescue personnel for our pool operations. As RiB, you make a real difference through a meaningful, varied, and developing assignment. You become part of a strong community, receive qualified training, and have good training opportunities as well as a financial supplement.
The assignment as on-call rescue personnel means that you, alongside your regular job, are on-call according to a schedule, usually every fourth week. During the on-call period, you may be called in for rescue operations as needed, for example, during fires, accidents, and life-saving interventions.
During on-call duty, you must be able to report to the fire station within 8 minutes, regardless of the time of day. The response time is counted from when the alarm goes off until the emergency vehicle leaves the station. Therefore, you need to live and/or work close to the fire station.
You must be reachable around the clock during the on-call period via a pager, which requires that your regular employer approves that you can leave the workplace when an alarm goes off.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Working as an on-call firefighter means that you, alongside your regular job, are on-call according to a schedule, usually every fourth week (approximately 168 hours per month). During the on-call periods, you may be called in for rescue operations as needed. The interventions vary and may include life-saving, firefighting, and support during traffic accidents.
Upon employment, you will undergo a three-week basic training for on-call rescue personnel (Grib 1) before you start working, as well as a 40-hour firefighter training. The training includes both theoretical and practical elements, such as working at traffic accidents, working at heights, intervention exercises, and basic fire knowledge.
Within two years, you will undertake another three-week training (Grib 2).
The trainings are paid, and if applicable, compensation for lost income from your regular employer may be provided.
You will receive compensation for on-call time, alarm responses, drills, and physical training (1 hour per week). You also have free access to training facilities at the station.
QUALIFICATIONS
No prior knowledge is required as you will receive the necessary training upon employment.
The requirements we have are:
- Driver's license with at least category B
- Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written
- Willingness to obtain a driver's license with category C during employment
Upon hiring, tests will be conducted where you need to demonstrate:
- Good physical condition and health
- Ability to collaborate and withstand stress
- Passed swimming and life-saving test (Guldbojen)
You must be in good health, and a medical examination is included in the recruitment process.
We consider it meritorious if you have:
- Basic training for on-call rescue personnel or equivalent training
- First aid training
- Driver's license categories BE, C, or CE
- Relevant work experience
As a person, we are looking for someone who is responsible, collaborative, and resilient under stress.
