Försvarshälsan in Boden is looking for an Occupational Health Engineer – do you want to be part of our team?

Försvarshälsan is the Swedish Armed Forces' internal occupational health service. We provide occupational health care for employees as well as health care for conscripts. Our mission is to support Boden Garrison with defense medical capability. We work health-promoting, preventive, and rehabilitative.

About the unit

Currently, 28 people work at Försvarshälsan in Boden, consisting of doctors, nurses, psychologists, physiotherapists, medical secretaries, health educators, occupational health engineers, and management. The staff is divided into 2 sections; the Occupational Health Care Section and the Medical Care Section for conscripts and cadets.

The position is specifically focused on the chemical and physical occupational health risks present within Boden Garrison. The role requires you to be engaged and have experience in independently carrying out various interventions. As an occupational health engineer, you will strategically and operationally contribute to driving and developing the occupational health work in the garrison. You will be part of a network of occupational health engineers within Försvarshälsan across Sweden.

Main responsibilities

Your tasks will include, among others:

  • working with systematic occupational health efforts together with other functions in various forums for occupational health work
  • providing advice on adapting workplaces regarding various forms of exposure to occupational health risks
  • participating in risk assessments
  • being familiar with applicable laws and regulations in the field of occupational health
  • educating and performing advisory interventions at all levels
  • conducting investigations, mappings, and occupational hygiene measurements of the physical work environment and, if necessary, suggesting changes

The role of the occupational health engineer is to be an independent expert resource and support in the occupational health work.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

  • University education as an occupational health engineer, or other equivalent education deemed comparable by the employer
  • Driving license B, manual
  • Experience in occupational hygiene measurements
  • Good computer skills
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written

PREFERABLE

  • Experience in occupational health care
  • Experience in environments with high noise and vibration exposure
  • Experience in operations with a large number of chemical health risks
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams

Personal qualities

We would like you to be structured, engaged, driven, and responsible, as well as have an analytical approach. You should be able to convey complex information in a pedagogical way. The work requires a good ability to independently plan, execute, and evaluate the results of completed work and assignments within a changing organization that at times requires reprioritization.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Employment type: Permanent employment starting with a six-month probationary period
Employment rate: full-time (40 hours/week) Mostly scheduled during weekdays, but scheduled work during other times may occur. The position includes 3 hours of physical training during working hours.

I 19 is one of Sweden's largest regiments with operations in Boden, Kiruna, Tåme, and Grubbnäsudden/Lomben. The main location and leadership for the regiment are in Boden.

The regiment's most important task is to build combat units, and in the coming years, I 19 will gradually develop the new Norrbotten Brigade. By 2028, the regiment should be able to train, stockpile, and mobilize the entire brigade, including the associated functional units; command, field operations, air defense, and logistics. The brigade should be able to fight in all environments but be specialized for combat in the subarctic environment of the Nordic region.

The regiment also includes the Armed Forces' winter unit, which has the task of coordinating and supporting the development of the Armed Forces' winter capability.

The conscription training is conducted at the Norrbotten Armored Battalion, which is responsible for training and maintaining units for the Norrbotten Brigade. The regiment also consists of the regimental staff, Försvarshälsan, Garrison Support Unit, Logistics Unit, and Local Planning Unit.
