Are you ready for a bigger task?

The Swedish Police Authority is Sweden's largest authority with approximately 40,000 employees across the country. With us, you have the opportunity to contribute to the Police's mission – to increase safety and reduce crime in society.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Your tasks at the Police's contact center focus on the investigative mission where you lay the foundation for further investigative work. We work with the initial phase of investigations by:

  • taking reports via phone and internet regarding crimes and losses
  • quickly identifying the reporter's needs and customizing the first investigative measures
  • conducting initial interviews via phone and initiating other initial investigative measures
  • collecting images from surveillance cameras
  • providing information about laws and regulations to citizens

The work is primarily carried out via phone and computer. At times, the workload can be high and the work may sometimes be perceived as stressful. We have close collaboration with other units within the authority and work closely to the center of events. This includes efforts where we collect witness statements in serious crimes. Here, police officers and civilians work closely together in various functions such as operators, investigators, preliminary investigation leaders, operational leaders, and group managers.

The work as an operator at the Police's contact center in the North region is divided into two shifts with some work on weekends. We plan according to a periodic schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS

This is an opportunity for you who have:

  • a high school diploma or other education and/or work experience that the employer assesses as equivalent
  • studies at the police academy, at least 2 semesters at the start of employment
  • at least 6 months of recent work experience that the employer assesses as relevant for the position
  • good computer skills
  • good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both spoken and written
  • availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays

It is advantageous if you also have:

  • good ability to communicate in English

  • investigative experience
  • experience working at the Police Authority or another government agency that the employer assesses as relevant
  • post-secondary studies that the employer assesses as relevant
  • a B driver's license

Personal qualities

We are often the first contact with the police, which means that the work places high demands on sensitivity and good communication skills. You need to be able to work well with others and relate to others in a sensitive, empathetic, and smooth manner. You should have good judgment and a clear moral compass. There are also demands that you are structured and can work independently and make decisions within the framework of your tasks. Since the work is very varied and some cases are of an urgent nature, you need to be flexible and able to quickly adapt and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.

We will place great emphasis on personal qualities.
