Job Advertisement: Study and Career Counselor for KAA in Gnesta Municipality

The position is located within the Department of Children and Education. We conduct statutory activities in the form of preschool, primary school, adapted primary school, and student health. Within the department's responsibilities, there are also cultural schools, youth center activities, KAA, open preschool, and the municipality's nutrition unit. The department operates on behalf of the Children and Education Board.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

KAA stands for the municipal activity responsibility. The purpose of KAA is to register, reach out to, and assess the needs of youth aged 16-20 without a high school diploma. This may involve those who have not started high school, dropped out of school, or have not completed their education with a diploma.

KAA Gnesta's main focus is to offer and conduct studies, but we also aim for employment. To thrive in this role, you need to be good at identifying needs, solution-focused, and willing to lead the youth forward. Understand the importance of collaboration at the individual level.

You will motivate, support, and guide in studies. You will provide support on-site in one of our classrooms. In addition to the classroom, you will follow certain youth digitally in their studies and provide support remotely. Another initiative beyond studies is internships. The purposes of internships can vary from providing a meaningful everyday life and breaking isolation to being a work training with the goal of becoming employable. It all depends on the youth's needs and circumstances.

Often, we become a support function in contact with other authorities. Here, it is important that you can follow the youth in the processes and create conditions for interventions through good collaboration.

QUALIFICATIONS

To succeed in this role, you have:

• A degree as a study and career counselor or a social worker degree.
• Good knowledge of the education system and labor market.
• Very good skills in digital tools such as Microsoft 365 and learning platforms used in teaching.

You work independently and in a structured manner and have the ability to create trust and motivation among students.
