Your Responsibilities

As a teacher for grades 4-6 with us, you have a clear mission: to drive students towards increased goal fulfillment through high-quality teaching. The role is varied and requires great flexibility as your day may involve everything from co-teaching in full classes to teaching in smaller groups or individual interventions. Occasionally, whole-class teaching may also occur.

The unique aspect of this position is that it does not involve any mentorship. Instead, all focus is on the pedagogical work and being a close support for students in their knowledge development. You work closely with your colleagues but are also expected to be skilled at leading yourself and taking your own initiatives based on the needs of the organization.

As a teacher, you see the student's entire school day as important and therefore collaborate with both guardians and colleagues around the student. As part of this, the school's and after-school care's activities collaborate to achieve higher goal fulfillment and create the best conditions for each student.

You start from the student group you meet and are expected to create varied and challenging teaching. Using digital tools is a natural part of your teaching. You promote collegial learning through discussion and reflection during both planned and spontaneous occasions. To benefit students' learning, as well as your own and the organization's development, you take advantage of the experiences and knowledge of different professions.

Your Workplace

Nygårdsskolan is a K-6 school with approximately 300 students, most of whom have a multicultural background. The school has newly renovated, fresh premises and is located in the Skäggetorp district. The school has a pleasant schoolyard of about 14,000 square meters. New play equipment is available to promote play, creativity, movement, and social interaction.

The school offers after-school care for students in grades K-3 and open after-school activities for students in grades 4-6. We have a staffed school library with a well-developed book collection, a well-functioning student health team, a popular after-school program, and developed environmental work at the school. At Nygårdsskolan, cooperative learning is used in teaching 1-2 days a week, which benefits students' development.

You Who Are Applying

As a person, you are secure, calm, and stable. You are a skilled leader in the classroom who maintains composure even when circumstances change – here, yesterday rarely looks like today, which requires you to be both stress-resistant and flexible. You have a positive view of students and the ability to build good relationships with our open and wonderful students.

First and foremost, we are looking for someone with a teaching license authorized to teach grades 4-6 in Swedish, Swedish as a second language, and social studies subjects. Secondly, we are looking for someone with a completed teacher education for grades 4-6. Alternatively, you may be at the end of your teacher education for grades 4-6. It is an advantage if you are authorized to teach English in grades 4-6.

It is a requirement that you have experience working in a curriculum-driven school through practice or as an employee. It is advantageous if you have taught grades 4-6 in Swedish and Swedish as a second language for at least one school year. It is also advantageous if you have experience in grading or documenting students' learning during the school year.

In your role as a teacher for grades 4-6, you have good knowledge of the school's mission and are well acquainted with the curriculum (Lgr22) and other governing documents. You have good communication skills in spoken and written Swedish. This is so that you, according to the curriculum (Lgr22), can organize and carry out the work so that the student receives support in their language and communication development. You are responsible for ensuring that each student can use the Swedish language in a rich and nuanced way.

As a teacher for grades 4-6, you are a good role model. You have the ability to adapt your teaching to the students and allow them to participate in shaping the teaching. In a quality-conscious manner, you create good conditions for the student's development and learning and document it. You collaborate well with colleagues, guardians, and other contacts in the community that are part of your professional role.
