Climate Adaptation Coordinator

Do you have a genuine interest in society's resilience to climate change? Do you want to be part of the development of climate adaptation in Strängnäs municipality? Are you attentive, pedagogical, and able to inspire, collaborate, and build good relationships both within and outside the municipal organization? Then this is a position for you!

The municipality's work on climate adaptation takes place in two parallel tracks: firstly, by strengthening and adapting existing buildings and our operations to a changing climate, and secondly, by planning, developing, and constructing new projects in a way that does not create future risks. In the first track, existing vulnerabilities are identified and managed. In the second track, the climate perspective is integrated from the outset in all new planning to prevent risks and create robust, sustainable living environments. Together, these two tracks ensure that the municipality both strengthens today's society and builds tomorrow's city in a safe and long-term manner.

The municipal executive board has the ultimate responsibility for the municipality's overall work in managing crises, regardless of how they appear or arise. As part of this, the municipality must be prepared to meet the climate changes that are already leaving their mark today.

The position belongs to the security unit, which means a clear focus on preparedness-enhancing measures to meet future climate threats. The security unit is part of the municipal executive board's secretariat department, and as a preparedness coordinator with a focus on climate adaptation, you will work in the unit alongside seven other people. The climate adaptation plan addresses all relevant climate challenges and ensures that there are preparedness plans linked to the identified challenges.

To succeed in this role and enjoy the tasks, we see that you have a strong interest and understanding of climate change, its effects, and adaptation strategies. You will work with risk analysis and conduct risk assessments related to climate-related threats and vulnerabilities.
