Investigator for the Planning Unit for Prisons, Remand and Community Service
The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. We are the authority responsible for prisons, community service, remand facilities, and client transport.
The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is now seeking an investigator for the planning unit for prisons, remand, and community service, located in the section for planning for prisons and remand. The unit belongs to the department for prisons, remand, and community service, together with the Capacity Unit and the service center of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service. The department also organizes core operations. The planning unit is responsible for developing and continuously ensuring national leadership and governance of operations at prisons, remand facilities, and community service within the framework of the authority's governance and follow-up model and the department's assignments. The unit drives, develops, and coordinates the forums that need to exist internally and externally for the department to achieve its goals. Furthermore, it includes responsibility for developing, managing, and analyzing the effects of quality management structures and quality work. The unit is also responsible for internal coordination within the department and between departments at the headquarters.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The main tasks are to work with national operational assignments and the authority's processes for operational planning and follow-up. The work involves having a coordinating and overarching knowledge as well as quality-assuring the issues handled in the department. This occurs in close collaboration with other departments at the headquarters and regional offices, particularly the department for operational content that handles content issues for prisons and remand facilities. The position also includes conducting national investigations and leading assignments and follow-ups within specific areas and producing analyses of these.
To some extent, you may also become involved in issues regarding other responsibilities for the section and department. The work involves switching between a strategic and an operational perspective. As changes occur within and outside the department, you contribute to identifying and analyzing strategically significant issues for a well-functioning operation at prisons and remand facilities. The tasks involve a largely independent work with tasks that require planning, quality assurance, and follow-up, as well as the preparation of reports for decision-making support as well as handling of referral responses.

We are looking for someone who has:
- Relevant higher education or university degree, alternatively other education combined with experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service considers relevant
- Experience in qualified investigative work
- Experience in supervisory assignments and coordination of issues between different parts of an organization
- Experience in planning, analysis, and follow-up work
- Experience in public sector work
- Very good computer skills
- Ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish
It is meritorious if you have:
- Training in investigative work
- Experience working within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
- Several years of experience from operational areas within prisons and remand
- Experience in preparation processes and other administrative processes within planning and follow-up of operations
- Experience in implementation and change work
- Experience in producing reports to support strategic decision-making within government management or other similar organizations
- Familiarity with working from legal documents and formulations
- Ability to see what effects proposed measures/suggestions will have in a larger organizational context
