Patient Safety Coordinator
The unit for patient safety and care quality has the overall responsibility for ensuring and monitoring the healthcare provider's responsibility for patient safety in Region Gävleborg. Our goal is to support the organization in providing safe and secure care, minimizing risks, and limiting the number of healthcare injuries. The unit is organized within the department of Health and Medical Care's common resources, led by the chief of staff in the Health and Medical Care Administration. Our team consists of chief physicians, chief nurses, expert patient safety coordinators, and case handlers/report coordinators.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As a patient safety coordinator, you play an important role in strengthening patient safety throughout the region. You are responsible, together with your colleagues, for driving and coordinating the strategic and systematic work in accordance with the national and regional action plan for increased patient safety. You will collaborate closely with, among others, the chief nurse, patient safety coordinators, chief physicians, and quality coordinators. We place great importance on viewing the organization as a whole and work with a clear regional perspective. The position involves travel throughout the county.
In this role, you will, among other things:
- represent the region's health and medical care in quality and patient safety issues, both locally and regionally
- translate environmental monitoring and the region's improvement needs into concrete actions at the regional level
- conduct and support investigations and analyses of serious incidents and risks, and initiate investigations in collaboration with the chief physician
- follow up and analyze results through the patient safety module in Stratsys
- conduct courses in patient safety and incident analysis and lecture for small and large groups.

QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone with good collaboration skills, who is communicative, attentive, and builds trust. You have a strong focus on quality and development and work evidence-based with the patient's best interest at heart. You work in a structured manner and can plan and prioritize your work effectively. Furthermore, we see that you have good pedagogical skills with the ability to convey messages in a target group-adapted way. You also have the ability to take a broader perspective and consider the best interests of the entire organization in your actions and decisions.
As a patient safety coordinator with us, you should have:
- a higher education in health and medical care at an advanced level
- several years of experience in direct patient work
- good knowledge of systematic quality and patient safety work.
It is meritorious, but not a requirement if you also have:
- education in patient safety
- experience in driving development work within health and medical care
- experience in leading and conducting incident analyses
- experience in improvement work and organizational development at the clinic, administration, or regional level
- experience in conducting training or leading workshops
- good digital competence, such as documentation, deviation systems, quality registers, and statistical tools
- experience in research and teaching.
Stationing location in the county can be discussed. The position includes 4 weeks of clinical service per year.
