Job Responsibilities
We are looking for a support assistant for awake night shifts at BmSS Stora Tolsereds Väg!
This is a residence with special services focusing on psychiatry.
Here, four women and two men aged 50–67 live, whose support needs are primarily related to mental disabilities. The tenants are older, and aging is associated with a decline in physical functions, which means that hands-on supportive work is required. One of our tenants needs assistance with transfers from 1-2 people. Currently, no one here exhibits challenging behaviors.
Stora Tolsereds Väg is designed to create a safe and homely environment. In our work, we base our actions on human rights and the principle of equal value for all people. We meet the tenants according to their individual needs.
As a night support assistant, you will work independently after handover from colleagues. You support the users based on their individual needs and work to create a sense of security. You are also tasked with encouraging, supporting, and motivating them to develop their independence. The work includes health and medical interventions on delegation, collaboration with psychiatry and home care, as well as support in daily tasks such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, and personal hygiene. You work according to assignments and goals according to IBIC and are attentive to the fact that support needs can change quickly. This is to ensure that our users receive the support they need here and now.
There is a support pedagogue at the workplace who guides daily work. The work environment may involve passive smoking and contact with pets (fur animals). You will work on a schedule, and the working hours are set for awake nights. Some of the work may occur in other activities. We plan the scheduled time in TimeCare.
We offer a rewarding and varied job with the opportunity to make a difference in people's lives.
Welcome with your application!
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a degree from the Health and Care program, support assistant training, or the Child and Leisure program with a focus on social or educational work. The educational requirement is also met if you have a post-secondary specialization in the disability field that includes at least 200 YH points, 120 university credits, or a combination thereof equivalent to at least four semesters of full-time studies. Alternatively, 60 university credits and at least two years of experience working with support and service for people with disabilities. The education should have relevant credits in behavioral science, pedagogy, psychology, social work, and (psychiatric) care or other education that the employer assesses as equivalent.
Communication is an important part of the work, which requires that you have passed Swedish 1 or Swedish as a second language 1. Those who do not meet the qualification requirements in Swedish 1 or Swedish as a second language 1 may be offered to take a language test through the testing user Educateit.
It is a requirement that you have at least one year of experience working at BmSS with a focus on psychiatry. It is also a requirement that you have experience with night work. You also need to have experience with social documentation.
If you have training and experience in ESL, MI, and low-arousal approaches, this is considered advantageous. It is also advantageous if you have had medication delegation previously.
You are calm and secure in pressured and difficult situations. You can balance the demands placed on you and can make well-founded decisions despite time pressure.
You take responsibility for your tasks and the group's tasks. You think of those we are here for and their best interests. You do your best to complete all tasks correctly and follow up on how it turned out.
You are meticulous, work focused, and care about details. You ensure that the work is done correctly. You check and follow up on your work to ensure that it maintains high quality.
You are friendly and helpful to others even in a stressful situation. You show respect for everyone you meet at work. You are inviting and positive. You work to ensure that the student/customer/user gets what they need.
