Junior Business Developer at LU Innovation

The Division of Research, Collaboration, and Innovation (FSI) has an overarching responsibility to support researchers and management at various levels in matters related to research funding, utilization of research results, whether commercially or otherwise, commissioned education, student innovation, and collaboration with the surrounding community.
FSI consists of four departments: Research Services, LU Innovation, Collaboration, and Donor Relations.

Workplace Description
LU Innovation is part of Lund University's central innovation activities. Our task is to ensure that knowledge and research results from across the university benefit society.
We do this by promoting an innovative culture, inspiring entrepreneurship, and establishing collaborations with external parties. Most importantly, we assist students and researchers at the university in transforming ideas and research results into new sustainable products, services, or methods.
The LU Innovation department has about 25 employees and is part of the Division of Research, Collaboration, and Innovation. We are located in newly built premises at Medicon Village in Lund.

Job Responsibilities and Areas of Responsibility
As a junior business developer with us, you will work both with idea and business development support for researchers and students at Lund University, as well as developing work within the organization.
A large part of the work for our junior business developers is advising and business development to help students develop their business ideas. We work to encourage entrepreneurship and assist students and recent graduates who are considering starting their own business.
Our support to students in realizing their ideas primarily includes:
- inspirational activities such as events, lectures, and workshops
- free and confidential idea and business development
- opportunity for free office space in our incubator VentureLab
The position also includes responsibility for various programs for student entrepreneurs and early companies run by students in the VentureLab incubator, as well as the Leapfrogs program. The work with the programs runs throughout the year and takes place in working groups together with colleagues, where you have the chance to take on the role of project leader.
In the position, you will also work with senior employees on projects from researchers, ranging from early projects to working with companies where Lund University has a stake through its holding company, LU Holding AB. Tasks include market research, customer contact, business plan development, etc.
You will also be responsible for some administrative tasks within our internal organization, such as monitoring key figures and statistics.
There is also room for certain external training/courses during the employment. This provides good opportunities to develop your own skills in business development and entrepreneurship and a springboard for your further career.
Qualifications
Requirements for the position are:
- Recent graduate with an academic degree in a relevant field. Preferably a technical or natural science degree combined with studies in business administration and/or entrepreneurship.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office,
- Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written
Desirable qualifications for the position are:
- Experience working with entrepreneurs with ideas from research
- Experience or education in business development within academia
- Experience in developing and running programs with elements of workshops and seminars
Personal Characteristics:
We expect you to have a good ability and habit of expressing yourself in writing and to be able to make concise oral presentations. You can, for example, use Excel and PowerPoint to structure, analyze, compile, and present data.
You have a good ability to quickly grasp new and complex matters and a good analytical ability.
The position places high demands on both your ability to work independently and take initiative, as well as your ability to collaborate. Many tasks are performed independently, but with guidance and support from experienced colleagues.
As a large part of the work involves meeting students and researchers with ideas, a good social ability to meet people and be attentive in conversations is required.
Other
The employment is a fixed-term position with a scope of 80% of full-time, starting on March 1, 2026, or by agreement.
